In our new book, Fleeced, we try to bring the debate back down to earth, focusing on the specific plans that Obama has announced during his presidential primary campaign and discussing the consequences. This is the debate Barack Obama hopes he can avoid.

Consider his proposals:

• In effect, he would legislate a 60 percent tax bracket for upper-income Americans, killing all initiative and innovation. He’d raise the top bracket to 40 percent. He’d apply FICA taxes to all income, not just that under $100,000 as at present. So add 40 percent plus FICA’s 12.5 percent plus Medicare’s 2 percent plus state and local taxes averaging, after deduction, at 5-6 percent, and you have a 60 percent bracket.

• He would double the capital gains tax, saddling the 50 percent of Americans who own stock with dramatically higher taxes.

• He’d double the dividend tax, hitting elderly coupon-clippers now retired and depending on fixed incomes.

• He wants to cover 12 million illegal immigrants with federally subsidized health insurance, dramatically driving up costs and forcing federal rationing of healthcare. As in the U.K. and Canada, you will not be permitted certain medical procedures if the bureaucrats decide you are not worth it.

• He proposes requiring Homeland Security operatives to notify terror suspects that they are under investigation within seven days of starting the investigation

• He says that unless they can establish that there is “probable cause to believe that a certain individual is linked to a specific terrorist group,” Homeland Security cannot seize his documents and search his business. The current standard is only that the search be “relevant” to a terror investigation.

• In effect, he would legislate a 60 percent tax bracket for upper-income Americans, killing all initiative and innovation. He’d raise the top bracket to 40 percent. He does not oppose $5-per-gallon gasoline but only says that he wishes there had been a more “gradual adjustment” to the higher prices.

Obama can talk about the Rev. Wright and flag lapel pins and his wife’s love of America all day long. But what he resists is a specific discussion of his own plans for our country. That’s the discussion he fears and he avoids. And it’s the discussion John McCain must force upon him if he is to have any realistic chance of winning the election.

Yes he is. He was born in Hawaii, and he was born after it became a state. He is a natural-born US citizen. Your detailed explanation is meaningless in this case as it would be a concern only if he was born overseas. He was not. He was born in Hawaii.

Some claim the birth certificate that has been presented is a fake. As there is no evidence the *location* of his birth was faked, there is no reason to be concerned on that point.

The Obama File, Wash Post, and Barack Obama's real roots

The Washington Post is going after Free Republic for going after Barack Obama's muslim roots, by reviewing a woman, Danielle Allen, who has been digging around to find out who is calling Barack Hussein Obama a Muslim. They found him - "Beckwith" - maintainer of The Obama File. A breathless article on finding a source you can get by googling in 3 minutes? Yup. Free Republic's "kristinn" answers. The first thing I have to say about "An Attack That Came Out of the Ether," published by The Washington Post on June 28th, is that at NO time was I ever contacted by this woman, Danielle Allen. I spoke to two male Post reporters, who spoke to me over the phone for a period of months. The first contact was in the fall of 2007. They told me they were trying to track down the source of emails they considered negative to the Obamamessiah.

What we have here, in campaign terms, is a pre-emptive counterstrike against negative information. NextRight notes the contradictions.

A month ago, the press ran with the Obama's 'fightthesmears' website, pushing the Obama press release as a 'news story'. The subtext, that any criticism of Obama was illegitimate and wrong, was clear, and made clearer when Obama himself paired critiques of his inexperience with racism. Now we have a further attempt to in effect demonize the right as an 'innoculation' on the expected "Swiftboat" attack. By "Swiftboat" they mean when a right-wing source 'smears' them, ie, outs the liberal Democrat candidate for faking his biography. The worst crime you can commit is apparently the crime of undermining a liberal's campaign narrative.

All Allen had to do was look up Barack Obama's first autobiography, and you'd find the *REAL* source of the Obama-Muslim links. His Muslim father, muslim step-father, muslim half-brother, muslim step-sister, his account of making faces during Koranic studies as a child growing up in Indonesia. You can then see the trajectory through this Nick Kristoff piece:

They could remind you that - according to muslims, if you say the call to prayer, you *are* a muslim. It's like a man reciting the Nicene creed or the Lord's prayer. It makes you go, hmmmm.

Especially when Obama has also said: "I've always been a Christian" yet his own bio shows no Christian affiliation (his white mother was a leftist secular type) until he was 30 years old and got hooked on Rev Wright's Black Liberation fulminations (hardly orthodox Christianity, and from a good friend of Farrakhan no less).

Now Barack Obama is not a Muslim. He is not, even though he ancestry is such and his blood relatives on his fathers side are. Just as the issue in John Kerry's case was not "did he serve with honor in Vitenam?" but more about how Kerry used one narrative way back when as a war protester and a wholly different narrative in 2004, so too is Obama doing the same. Black Liberation African-roots soul-searching in "Dreams of My father" has been white-washed into ads that tout his "Typical White Person" grandmother's influence and "Kansas values" and deny the Muslim roots.

As Melanie Phillips says: "The issue is NOT Obama’s religion, now or in the past. It is the many questions which need to be answered about a) why he has sought to conceal his early background; b) why he has so many indirect associations with radical Islamism; and c) whether these two questions are in some way related."

We have a man who grew up in Hawaii and Indonesia, yet has a vague and dishonest ad that speaks of growing up with Kansas values. None of the current campaign Obama comes through in the "Dreams of My Father" Obama of 1995. Obama's own autobiography is a different story:

In that book, Barack Obama found his identity in his own father: A Socialist economist in the Kenyatta govt, a member of the Kenyan elite who was also a Muslim and polygamist. There is no discernable trace of Christian upbringing.

All that the Free Republic internet poster did was to recite these above particulars, and do it sooner than anyone else did. "Expat Guy", a blogger out of Indonesia, added some additional flavor by bringing up some quote from friends of "Barry Sotero" (his name back then) to fill in the gaps.Really, Allen and the Washington Post need not have dug so hard and so far to find a trail that really starts at Obama's own words and history. Instead, they should be examining the unexamined question of Barack Obama's real roots, real sentiments and real theology.

It is perhaps the keenest indication that there is something "there" to observe how the Obama camp and their proxies (like Allen, who gave Obama a $2700 contribution), are desperate to get such questions and issues labelled as 'smears' and 'swiftboating'. They are unintentionally signalling the importance of this issue with their hyper-concern.

I thought this was a fluke and that I was alone, until I went to the Hillary Clinton Forum and saw Nobama’s post “Blogger just shut down my NObama Blog!!“

Turns out that a number of us were “blocked”. The common thread, our membership in the Just Say No Deal Coalition — a coalition of millions with one thing in common: NObama. Then, Diane Mantouvalos, one of the founders of the coalition, advised the next day that her personal computer had been hacked.

Well, Obama and his supporters can knock Alice Palmer off the ballot, pilfer Hillary Clinton’s delegates in Michigan, and bamboozle the masses, but he cannot silence us and these tactics will only strengthen our resolve.

Uppity Woman has a running list of blogs affected as well. In an abundance of caution, she’s set up an alternate site to be used if and when her blogger site is blocked completely (I was shocked to learn that since June 3, she’s had to use word verification to create new posts.)

I should note that Google has done that to our other blog, Travis Monitor (making us use word verifcation). There is something afoot!

Dr Dobson took Obama to task over his arguable statements in a speech on religion:

"I think he's deliberately distorting the traditional understanding of the Bible to fit his own worldview, his own confused theology." Dobson said.

Obama dismisses Dobson criticism about Bible with: "somebody would be pretty hard-pressed to make that argument" that he was distorting the Bible. Um, no, Dobson just did. Dobson is a mainline evangelical, and Obama went to a Black Liberation Theology church and had no religious training growing up except for that time when he was studying the Quran. Who's the expert and who's the pandering politician?

ACORN head Maude Hurd gushes that Obama is the candidate who "best understands and can affect change on the issues ACORN cares about" -- like ensuring their massive pipeline to your hard-earned money. Let's take a closer look at the ACORN Obama knows.

Last July, ACORN settled the largest case of voter fraud in the history of Washington State. Seven ACORN workers had submitted nearly 2,000 bogus voter registration forms. According to case records, they flipped through phone books for names to use on the forms, including "Leon Spinks," "Frekkie Magoal" and "Fruto Boy Crispila." Three ACORN election hoaxers pleaded guilty in October. A King County prosecutor called ACORN's criminal sabotage "an act of vandalism upon the voter rolls."
The group's vandalism on electoral integrity is systemic. ACORN has been implicated in similar voter fraud schemes in Missouri, Ohio and at least 12 other states.
As the Consumer Rights League points out in its new expose, the ACORN Housing Corporation has worked to obtain mortgages for illegal aliens in partnership with Citibank. It relies on undocumented income, "under the table" money, which may not be reported to the Internal Revenue Service. Moreover, the group's "financial justice" operations attack lenders for "exotic" loans, while recommending 10-year interest-only loans (which deny equity to the buyer) and risky reverse mortgages. Whistleblower documents reveal internal discussions among the group that blur the lines between its tax-exempt housing work and its aggressive electioneering activities. The group appears to shake down corporate interests with relentless PR attacks, and then enters "no lobby" agreements with targeted corporations after receiving payment.

Obama wants to give ACORN more taxpayer money, praises them as a good organization, and supports their activities. Egads.

Thin-skinned Obama

Obama was rated the most liberal Senator in 2007 by national journal and has otherwise hid his paper thin record with a series of cowardly ‘present’ votes and recent flipflops. Obama is not just an empty suit, but a cheap, easily foldable empty suit. Obama will hurt our economy with his higher taxes, hurt our culture with pro-abortion extremism and racial grievance politics, and get Americans killed with his naive and weak foreign policy. Well, let s take a look.
2. Obama has promised the abortion industry that the first piece of legislation he will sign
is the Freedom of Choice Act. This act would overturn every piece of state or federal
legislation that puts any reasonable restriction on abortion. For example, it would
overturn partial birth abortion restrictions , abortions after viability, abortions after the
baby has a heartbeat and fingerprints, parental consent legislation, health and safety
rules for abortion clinics, and required education and waiting periods for women
wanting abortions. This is no longer merely a religious issue. Because science has
allowed us to see the unborn baby in the womb (and doctors are now operating on
unborn babies under 22 weeks of age), there is even now an emerging pro-life atheist
movement. And it is no longer a Republican issue as many Democrats in the Congress
are now pro-life and the majority of Americans want reasonable restrictions on
abortion. Obama s views are ghastly and out of the mainstream.
3. Obama has a dangerously naïve view of the War on Terror. His approach is to pull out of
Iraq immediately and focus our attention on prosecuting terrorists through the courts.
Think about this. We only get the opportunity to prosecute terrorists through the courts
after they have committed an act of terror, and then only if we can catch them.
Prosecuting the terrorists who committed the World Trade Center bombings did not
prevent 9/11. One of the masterminds of the World Trade Center bombing who avoided
the law was Khalid Sheikh Mohammed

the 9/11 attacks and several other terrorist acts. While none of us like the war in Iraq,
the facts are clear: President Bush has prevented further terrorist attacks on our soil for

there would not be another attack for 7 years, and I ll consider downgrading Bush from
Great to Really Good . During the War on Terror, some 20,000 terrorists have been
killed and so will never be able to hit us on our own streets or in our malls and office
buildings. And our military has kept a lot more of them pinned down in Iraq and
Afghanistan. Meanwhile, if Obama were to surrender in Iraq, the terrorists would re-
gain their momentum. The logic seems undeniable that our risk would escalate. My
professional life has focused a lot on RISK. This is not fear-mongering. To elect Barak
Obama would be a change that would be very risky.
4. Obama said he would meet without pre-conditions with Iranian President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahmoud_Ahmadinejad), a man who has vowed to
obliterate Israel. This may sound reasonable to some, but again it is a dangerously naïve
view of the War on Terror. Prior to World War II, British Prime Minister Neville
Chamberlain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neville_Chamberlain) took a similar approach to
Hitler. At the time, Hitler s position of authority was weak as he was appointed
Chancellor while his Nazi party only had 37% of the votes. Chamberlain s visit to Hitler in
Germany strengthened Hitler s prestige and power and this policy of appeasement
ultimately weakened the Allies preparedness. Even Obama s Democrat opponent
Hillary Clinton warned against Obama s approach to appeasement of this extraordinarily
dangerous Iranian leader. Obama must be criticized for not learning from history.
5. Obama has a utopian view of evil, similar to others on the far left. He thinks that we can
just all be nice guys and get along. All of history proves this to be wrong. The great
American leaders have had one thing in common the willingness to stand boldly
against evil. Think of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, and
Ronald Reagan. Barack Obama would sell the American soul to the forces of evil in a
utopian dream. The danger of this cannot be overstated.
6. On the economy, Barack Obama simply does not understand basic economics. For
example, he favors a windfall profits tax on oil companies. Look, the more you tax
something, the less of it you get. We need MORE oil not less. Jimmy Carter tried an
excess profits tax with devastating effects (http://www.taxhistory.org). It didn t work
then, and it won t work now. Carter s experiment stopped domestic energy exploration
and made America more dependent on foreign sources of oil. And why would Obama
single out the oil industry? The facts are that the oil companies make about 8.3 cents in
gross profit per dollar of sales. This is far below many other industries for example,
electronics companies make about 14.5 cents per dollar of sales. Oil and gas companies
made $86.5 billion in profits in 2007; at the same time, the financial services industry
made $498.5 billion. Obama is pushing nonsense.
7. There is no quick fix for high gasoline prices. But if the Congress had acted in the 1990 s
to spur oil production, we would not be in the fix we are today. The fact is inescapable
that liberal Democrats are squarely responsible for blocking all initiatives at a
comprehensive energy plan. I am tired of obstructionists stopping America from moving
forward on energy. We are producing no more oil domestically now than in 1948! We
need to move forward NOW to open drilling with modern environmental safeguards.
We need nuclear energy, more coal, more natural gas, and more oil. We need to open
the door to offshore drilling, onshore shale oil, and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
(ANWR). By the way, ANWR is a frozen tundra with no trees or rivers. The liberals (i.e.
Obama and Company) consistent blocking of development there is based on false
utopian ideas of pristine wilderness. Not only are these ideas false, oil development of
the region would not spoil what is there. Development of ANWR will impact only about
2,000 acres of the 19.9 million acre refuge. Even the residents of the area support
drilling there (http://www.anwr.org/people/people.htm). We heard that the Alaska
pipeline would decimate the caribou; but the caribou are thriving where the pipeline
runs. Obama s response to cries for help from the American people about $4 gasoline is
a deafening silence. Where is the leadership on this key issue from this man? (If he
caves on this between now and the election, it is clear that it is only because of public
outcry.) There is no sense hoping for conservation to solve the problem. We are in a
new era of demand from emerging nations that will overwhelm efforts at conservation.
While the deepening American recession may drop oil prices in the short run, we should
not let any such drop slow our efforts at a comprehensive energy policy.
8. The ultra-environmentalists want to focus all their attention on wind and solar. Great.
Let s go for it. But it cannot solve all our problems. I have extensive personal knowledge
of wind and solar. Because of unique circumstances, my wife and I have to rely on a
solar/wind installation for 100% of our power for our rural Texas home. I can tell you
that off-grid power is so expensive that it will never pay for itself, no matter how high
the price of grid power gets. And it is incredibly wasteful of resources. Environmental
religionists conveniently ignore how much fossil fuel energy it took to mine the lead in
our necessary 48 battery bank (each battery weighs 200 pounds) not to mention the
fossil fuels expended in constructing the building to house the batteries, the resources
to produce the solar panels or the large back-up generator to provide power (when
there is inadequate sun and the batteries are depleted). We are so green we are in the
red. By the way, I am as much of an environmentalist as the next guy. I have worked to
pass environmental legislation in our area. I am enough of an economist to understand
that when there are spillover costs (pollution), the government has a legitimate role to
play. But the problem with extreme environmental positions is that they go beyond
science to a utopian philosophy which pits capitalism against environmentalism. This
ultimately harms not only all of us but the environment as well. It is no accident that the
country with the best environmental record is the USA, which happens to be the beacon
of capitalism.
9. As a Christian, I feel a sense of responsibility to be a good steward to what God has
given us. But Jesus principle commands are to love God and serve our fellow man; there
is no mention in the Bible of worshipping a Mother Earth. By the way, it should be noted
that the no-energy-policy-global-warmist approach is anti-poor. The poorer one is the
more ultra-environmentalism damages the family budget. See

Obama s sensitivity on this? Well, Ok. I ll give him credit for not being uncaring toward
the poor, so he must just be ignorant of this effect.
10. Here s the way I see the ultra-environmentalist movement. When its proponents are
unwilling to listen to contrary evidence, it ceases to be science. There is plenty of
contrary evidence against Al Gore s thesis. But it is accepted by many on faith in the face
of evidence against it. Ultra-environmentalism is a fundamentalist religion. And Obama
is a priest of its dogma.
11. Obama said that small-town Americans cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people
who aren t like them out of bitterness over lost jobs. I must say, this statement stunned
me. I was beginning to have some suspicions about who Obama really is, and this
confirmed it for me. Those who say that he is a liberal elitist have evidence to back it up.
Such comments are especially telling coming from a man who claims to be bringing
Americans together. I m proud to have friends from all socio-economic levels and am
concerned that a President Obama would push this country further in the direction of
the two Americas of John Edwards and Howard Dean. This is not healthy. I want to see
America ONE Nation under God again, fighting shoulder-to-shoulder against evil and
toward noble shared goals such as going to the moon and energy independence.
12. A bit more on this two Americas notion. Have you noticed how some liberals though
certainly not all tend to vilify successful men and institutions? I don t think I have to
name names of those on the receiving end of this hatred. If I am wrong, none will come
to mind. If I am right, many will come to mind. But I will mention one group
evangelical Christians, of whom I am one. Never in my life have I seen this group
experience such disdain. The idea of tolerance from liberals stops here. I m sure that
when people figure out that I believe that Christianity is true all of it that my
arguments in this essay will be rejected out of hand, no matter how reasonable. I
welcome the other side s views if they can back them up with reason and evidence. But I
don t think this openness comes back the other way. Thus the times we live in.
13. And what of this Rev. Jeremiah Wright association? Along with Rev. Wright s hateful
comments about the America I love we note Michelle Obama s comments about how
she has never before been proud of her country. It seems that Senator Obama lives in a
world of hatred and distrust toward America. How can we expect to get anything better
if he is President?
14. In a Wall Street Journal interview, Senator Obama discussed his view that we are in a
winner take all economy, in which the gains from economic growth skew heavily
toward the wealthy. Actually, I have some sympathies for this view. I am inclined to
agree that corporate CEO s, as a group, are overpaid. But I disagree with the one-sided
generalization Obama makes. To a very real degree, when the companies large and
small thrive, so does the entire economy. Obama s idea of boilerplate redistribution of
wealth is pure socialism. His attack on the successful is not justice. It is theft! I want to
see leaders that encourage every American to work hard and make personal and family
decisions that improve their chance of success, rather than preaching negativism that
success is beyond their control because of race, class, poverty, etc. As Cal Thomas says

overcomers. Today, we are not about overcoming. The successful are not studied to see
how they succeeded. Their stories of overcoming obstacles are not told, at least in their
totality. If they are told at all, it is just the success and wealth part, not the part about
how they got there .Obama s economic doctrine subsidizes people who make wrong
decisions and does little to encourage them to make right ones.
15. Obama says he won t raise taxes on the middle class. That s going to be a pretty hard
promise to keep, given his list of new programs including government subsidies for free
college, social security, health care, etc. While I am fed up with Democrat s and
Republican s continued failure to balance the budget, I have more hope for Obama s
opponent than for Obama. John McCain has been a long time champion against pork
barrel spending. He is unusual in that he has never garnered any pork for his own state.
When he says that he will veto bills with pork in them, I m inclined to believe him. I m
very uneasy about Senator Obama s ability to pull off a change in Washington to
balance the budget.
16. I m frazzled about Obama s socialization of America. The comments Obama has made
about ignoring the Constitution are alarming:

18. Obama supports gay marriage. Goodness knows that Americans come down on
different sides of this issue. But whenever it goes before a vote of the people,
Americans usually vote 2 to 1 against gay marriage. Obama wants to appoint judges that
will force gay marriage on us. This whole debate is based on the idea that some people
are born gay. That idea has no basis in science. The real problem for those in a
homosexual lifestyle is not discrimination, but rather physical devastation

incidence of disease and addiction. In fact, the best evidence we have on it indicates
that the life expectancy of homosexuals is 20 to 30% shorter than others, not even
accounting for AIDS. The real bottom line is surprisingly simple: Every child has the right
to a mother and a father. Statistics confirm that children do much better in a traditional
family. The definition of marriage as between one man and one woman is rightly
discriminatory for children in family formation. While there may be more research left
to be done, let s allow the people to decide how they want marriage to be defined in
this country.
19. Obama s solution to everything is to have government tax it or nationalize it. This is Big
Brother on Steroids. Maybe change means that we can emulate great societies like,
well, Venezuela.

"Obama's money raising operation is unpresedented and it's grass roots."

Not like you think. Sen. Obama said recently that 90% of his donations are from small donors, which is half-true at best. 90% of the people who donated to his campaign are small donors, but the money they sent only makes up 36% of the money he has raised. Think about that.

Oh, yeah, and he has 14 of those "evil" lobbyists acting as "bundlers" for his campaign funds.

Refusing money from Washington lobbyists and PACs alone is an illusion if underneath there is not consistency.

Just today:

Wall Street and the banking sector have given $19 million to Obama compared with $12 million to McCain through the end of May, according the Center for Responsive Politics and Federal Election Commission. Hedge funds, mortgage lenders, investment banks and private equity firms, which have been hit by the subprime mortgage and housing market crisis, are included in that group.

The trend holds true for a number of other industries, which are contributing more campaign funds to Obama, but flips on a few other business sectors:

- Communications, electronics and technology: Obama, $10.2 million; McCain $2.3 million.

- Construction: Obama, $2.1 million; McCain, $1.8 million.

- Health care, drug companies: Obama, $6.6 million; McCain, $2.5 million.

- Transportation: McCain, $988,000; Obama, $609,000.

- Energy: McCain, $1.4 million; Obama, $1.1 million.

- Agriculture: McCain, $1 million; Obama, $834,000.

Barack Obama often boasts he is “the only candidate who isn’t taking a dime from Washington lobbyists,” yet his fundraising team includes 38 members of law firms that were paid $138 million last year to lobby the federal government, records show.

Those lawyers, including 10 former federal lobbyists, have pledged to raise at least $3.5 million for the Illinois senator’s presidential race. Employees of their firms have given Obama’s campaign $2.26 million, a USA TODAY analysis of campaign-finance data shows.

Thirty-one of the 38 are law firm partners, who typically receive a share of their firms’ lobbying fees. At least six of them have some managerial authority over lobbyists.

“It makes no difference whether the person is a registered lobbyist or the partner of a registered lobbyist, if the person is raising money to get access or curry favor,” said Michael Malbin, director of the Campaign Finance Institute, a non-partisan think tank.

Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said that while Obama’s refusal to take money from lobbyists “isn’t a perfect solution … it does reflect Obama’s record of trying to change the way that Washington does business.” He declined to elaborate.

While other Obama supporters have described him as a leading activist, Williams demurs: “I wouldn’t want to put my position as a spearhead.” He acknowledges that the gains Obama is making among Washington’s Democratic establishment are hard to see because Obama’s K Street supporters have kept a low profile. As a result, Obama’s K Street network is a stealthy operation.

Despite all of this, The Atlanta Constitution-Journal reported yesterday that Barack Obama — who has been claiming to be so emphatically opposed to warrantless eavesdropping and telecom amnesty, to say nothing of the Iraq War — taped a radio endorsement this week for Rep. Barrow, with the specific intent to help him defeat Regina Thomas in the Democratic primary (h/t sysprog):

“Senator Obama believes that Congressman Barrow has worked hard to bring change that families in his district deserve, and we’ll work hard to help John Barrow win in November,” Obama spokeswoman Amy Brundage said.

In the ad, Obama asks voters to join him in supporting Barrow. “We’re going to need John Barrow back in Congress to help change Washington and get our country back on track,” Obama says in the 60-second ad.

The article highlighted the reason Barrow was so eager to have Obama record an ad endorsing him and why it’s so potentially important in helping Barrow win his primary:

Barrow beat a Republican incumbent in 2004 and had tough GOP opposition in 2006. But this April, Barrow picked up unexpected opposition from Regina Thomas, a well-known African-American state senator based in Savannah. Barrow is white, and in past primaries in the 12th District, black voters have cast nearly 70 percent of the ballots.

What makes this even more amazing is that, as the article notes, Barrow cynically waited until after Obama’s sweeping primary victory in Georgia to endorse him. He did so only once he saw that Obama would likely be the nominee and obviously with the hope of having Obama encourage Barrow’s sizable African-American constituency to support him. And now Obama turns around and intervenes in a Democratic primary on behalf of one of the worst Bush enablers in Congress — not in order to help Barrow defeat an even-worse Republican, but to defeat a far better and plainly credible Democratic challenger.

As chronicled by our colleagues over at the Swamp, some folks figure he'll top a half-billion dollars before election day, now that he's scrapped his promise to take public funds, this year a measly $84 million to spend between Labor Day and Nov. 4. Public money was good enough for every other presidential candidate for the last three decades. But how could any serious candidate possibly get along on only $1.3 million a day?

During the Democratic primary voting, a lot of folks were fooled into thinking Obama agreed with public funds when he signed a pledge last fall to use them and told constitutents before that, "If we're still getting financed primarily from individual contributions, those with the most money are still going to have the most influence."

According to the New York Times, the Obama campaign is tightening 'control of image and access' over the past few weeks in a clear attempt of prevent manipulate media coverage. On Monday in a meeting with African-American Civic the Obama campaign barred cameras from the meeting and recently refused to release the names of a group of religious figures Obama met with. According to the times report, the campaign went as far as providing a separate entrance to protect the identity and prevent press interviews of those in attendance. The new strategy has also resulted in this week's "head scarves" incident which has outraged much of the Muslim community; especially in light of the Obama's recent Jerusalem gaffe.

Obamas campaign strategists have defended the moves claiming that they believe they need to take extra steps to "prevent against attack". In reality, the measures are aimed at manipulating public perception.

The Times report was complimentary to the McCain campaigns stating "they still enjoy a reputation for giving reporters traveling with him an unusual amount of access." Again, a laughable irony considering that Obama expects the American people to view McCain as the typical politician in attempt to manipulate his 30 year record of bipartisanship.

The Obama campaign's new tactics are reminiscent of those used by the "propaganda ministries" of leaders of the past and those utilized by some of the most notorious "leaders" of today. The Obama campaign has become so afraid of Obama's gaffes, associations, and hypocritical statements that they now believe that Americans need to be told what issues and information are important and can be discussed. Sshhhh... Did anyone else just hear that crack in the foundation?

Obama Puts Muslim Pals In Back of Bus

The Obama campaign has Islamophobia. Apparently, having a muslim father, muslim step-father, muslim half-brothers and half-sister, and attending a muslim school and studying the Koran as a child for 2 years is such a deep dark secret that Obama has to bury it all behind the phony mask of "Obama is a Christian, end of story". (well, if that extremist anti-American Trinity church is "Christian" I may have to turn Buddhist in protest.)

Yet these adoring Muslims show up inconveniently. The campaign has decided they don't like Muslims in the same shot with Obama. Just like when they call for "more white folks" in their stage, this raises questions of Obama campaign practicing the kind of racial and sectarian animosity that they denounce - WDEF story:

When two young muslim women wearing headscarves, were told recently they could not sit behind Barack Obama at this rally......it raised questions in their community.

Funny, but Obama wasn't afraid to stand with radical extremists like Rev Wright. He's not afraid to be the most liberal member of the U.S.Senate. So why isn't he willing to stand by Muslim supporters, who are legion and eager?

You see, the weaker the candidate, the more you have to stage-manage him, and this is the most stage-managed and phony candidate since 1992 if not before. The Muslim garb photo was worth a 3-day kerfuffle back in the heyday of the Clinton-Obama slugfest:

Happy New Year and congratulations on a job well done. These have been trying times when the hyenas of war have again been turned loose on humanity by a greedy ruling class.

Now, beyond all the optimism I was capable of mustering, Mr. Obama won Iowa! He won in a political arena 95 percent white. It was a resounding defeat for the manipulations of the ultra-right and their right-liberal fellow travelers. Also it was a hard lesson for liberals who underestimated the political fury of the masses in these troubled times.

Obama’s victory was more than a progressive move; it was a dialectical leap ushering in a qualitatively new era of struggle. Marx once compared revolutionary struggle with the work of the mole, who sometimes burrows so far beneath the ground that he leaves no trace of his movement on the surface. This is the old revolutionary “mole,” not only showing his traces on the surface but also breaking through.

The old pattern of politics as usual has been broken. It may not have happened as we expected it to happen but what matters is that it happened. The message is clear: we can and must defeat the ultra-right, by uniting the broadest possible coalition that will represent an overwhelming majority of the people in a new political dynamic. We must quickly shed yesterday’s political perspective and get in step with the march of events.

From January 2007 through May 2007, Harvard, along with the Project for Excellence in Journalism (part of the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press), examined 1,742 presidential campaign stories. The stories appeared in 48 print, online, network TV, cable and radio news outlets. Their conclusion?

"Obama's front page coverage," said the study, "was 70 percent positive and 9 percent negative, and Clinton's was similarly 61 percent positive and 13 percent negative." For Republicans, however, only 25 percent of the stories had a positive tone, and 40 percent were negative. As for network TV newscasts, Democrats were positively portrayed more than twice as often as they were negatively. For Republicans, however, fewer than 20 percent of the stories were positive, with a negative tone twice as often.

Kerry is Stuck In Iraq

Really? If this clueless dolt is the best the Democrats have to offer on Iraq and foreign policy then the Democrats have practically endorsed McCain.

Kerry, like his bad joke, is stuck in Iraq. The Democrats have painted themselves into a 'surge wont work' corner as the ducks finally line up to deliver stability and security in Iraq. Many mistakes were made by the Bush administration, but all along, the Democrats were there peddling defeatism and advice that was worse. Kerry said the elections wouldnt work - they did. Kerry (and Obama) said the surge wouldnt work - it did. Violence is down 75%. the Iraq security forces are now strong enough to tackle many challenges and keep getting stronger. We have gotten into a position where winning stability in Iraq is inevitable so long as we continue supporting the Iraqi govt in the next 1-2 years as it gets up to speed.

McCain is the one man whose advice and perspective has been vindicated by events. McCain was the one arguing with Rumsfeld over Bush admin mishandling of Iraq war, an arguing for more troops and the right strategy; The lame attempt to tag him as Bush's 3rd term will not work.

McCain will get our troops back home ... with HONOR.

The countries having “a lot” of confidence in Obama’s foreign policy—25% and 23% respectively, are the ones that disapprove of us most strongly: Turkey and Pakistan. In five countries, confidence in Obama’s policies is in single digits: China 2%, Egypt 4%, Russia 5%, Lebanon 5%, Brazil 5%. The highest confidence is in Germany (24%) with Nigeria and France tied at 16%, and the United Kingdom at 13%.

Obama the man is idolized, the policies of Obama the possible president are viewed with profound skepticism. These contradictory commentaries and figures show that the world, like much of America, is swept up in a dream or fantasy about Obama. Unlike America, however, the world seems to understand that it is a dream. That is shown by the abysmal ratings they give to what they think Obama might actually do as president.

Michigan v Texas

The worst state in the union wrt the economy is Michigan - it is run by Democrats. Democrat Governor, Democrat lege, etc. Michigan has been shedding jobs, losing business left and right, and high unemployment, over 7%.

The best economic performing large state is Texas - lower unemployment, highest growth, more business and job creation - the Government there is run by Republicans - Republican Governor, republican lege, etc. More private sector job growth than any other state in the union and unemployment under 5%.

A vote for Obama is a vote to make America just like Michigan.

Q: How did you choose which candidate you support?

A: First question I ask: Which one will do more to support our freedom? Whichever candidate that is should get your vote.

The proper role of Government is to protect our freedom and rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. The proper role of a citizen is to defend the society and that correct framework by supporting candidates who defend our Constitution and the framework of limited Government.

How to vote for freedom? Someone once said "A Government that can give you everything you want, can take everything you have." The biggest enemy of freedom, as proven by the history of the 20th century is Big Goverment. To defend freedom, vote for smaller Government. Vote for the candidates of smaller Government; the ones who are for lower taxes and lower tax rates; the ones who are for less speding, less pork barrelling; the ones for less regulation and more economic free markets; the ones who declare that Government should leave you alone; the ones who defend our constitutional rights to worship, speak out (ie no Fairness Docrine) and protect our propert rights (ie wont take it away with environmental regulation); the ones who *dont* promise more giveaways, more welfare, and more 'Govt will solve this or that problem' which sound good but never work and instead destroys our rights.

Also see how they will fight our enemies foreign and domestic (ie anti-crime and anti-terrorist) who want to deprive us of life and liberty. Being for freedom is not the same as being for anarchy, you want a Govt, but its role is limited. Things like fighting violent crime and defending our borders are within Govts real role.

No candidate is perfect. Ron Paul and Tom Tancredo came the closest of any of the Democrat or Republican candidates.

Socialists need not apply. Socialists destroy our freedom and our prosperity through Big Govt. Since Obama is a Big Govt socialist, he is completely unqualified and unsuitable to be in *ANY* elected office, let alone President. That leaves McCain as the best choice.

Obama is using the "527" campaign funding loophole. It is a legal funding loophole that is not counted in his official donations. Unfortunately, the U.S. Supreme Court said 527's should be legal. McCain's law is no longer valid. The only way to really close the loophole is with a constitutional amendment.

A real funny thing is Obama criticized Edwards about funding while Obama was using the 527 loophole. It just proves Obama is a complete hypocrite.

Republicans Election Chances in 2008

They dont have a billionaire like Soros to underwrite and buy the whole election, an a lot more special interest money is going to the Democrats right now, but the Republicans are still on the right side of most of the issues.
- They are better on taxes, while Democrats want to increase taxes
- They are better on spending, fighting wasteful Democrat bills that have too much special interest pork
- They are better on national security, where Democrat keep wanting to weaken our ability to wage war against terrorists
- They are right to call for more domestic energy supply (drill in ANWR, offshore, nuclear, etc) while all the Democrats can do is slap on more taxes!
- They are better on health insurance, supporting a bill to cut insurance cost by allowing you to get insurance from any state, thereby opening choice that lowers costs

The Democrats may have more money but the Republicans are better for America.

Race and the 2008 Vote

Is it racist for a white person to vote for McCain because he is white?

The short answer would be "yes", if this is really a 'race is all I care about vote' or a vote to keep a black man out of office. But a longer answer is required, because the vector of the Obama campaign is clear: Guilt white people into voting for Barack because to do otherwise is 'racist', while taking advantage of the flipside benefit of those voting for a 'historic' choice, ie, white attracted to the least qualified nominee in American history simply because he is black and that means its 'cool' and 'good' to pick him. They are also using Obama's race as part of the 'change' theme - it sure is change to have a junior Senator, one of the youngest, least experienced, as well as the first black ever, to be in office. Change indeed!

A white voting for McCain should be no more a concern than the 95% of blacks in North Carolina who just happened to vote for the black man in the Dem primary over the white woman. They voted for the man who shared their ethnic heritage (although curiously Obama has no ancestors who *were* slaves and has ancestors who *were* slaveowners, which is different from most black Americans), and there is legitimate pride in such votes. It is not necessarily animus.

If you vote for Obama out of fear of being labelled racist or because you think 'its time' for a black man in the White House, you are also voting based on race. There is a lot of race-consciousness in this election, and Ferraro was correct - Obama would not have won the primary if he were white. Obama beat Hillary by being even more "change", putting his race as an historic element in his run, and having 95% of black primary voters supporting him. If he was another white Senator, it never would have happened. So his race has helped Obama immensely.

There is really not a single reason for any non-leftist to vote for the unqualified Obama. He's a junior Senator with the most liberal voting record in the Senate, zero accomplishments save getting elected, and very poor judgments, as shown by the friends he's had to disown this campaign. He's hoping to get a lot of votes via 'white guilt' even though he spent 20 years in an afrocentric church that blames "white man's greed" for ills of the world. Even though Barack called his grandma a "typical white person" for remarks that Obama thinks were racist. Even though he said that he thought Wright's comments (like 9/11 was "chickens coming home to roost" for America) were controversial.

Given all that, it's clear that even if you vote for McCain because he shares your ethnic heritage, you still wont be as racist as Barack Obama's closest friends, allies and supporters. Yet nobody questions the race-conscious supporters of Obama - Racism is apparently a one way street.

Bartiromo says, ‘Right now [it] is 35 percent, Obama wants to take that to 39 percent .

Refuting the Obama Pitch

"the first issue is the economy, the unemployment rate is now 5.5 percent. " - This is actually not a bad rate, it is below average of last 30 years and near full employment. Moreover, the economy was growing very fast under the Republicans from 2003 to 2006, it only slowed down since the Democrats took control of Congress.

"Price of gas and food had gone up" The Democrats promised to fix gas prices when they tookover Congress. I guess they lied. They oppose the solutions to lower gas prices: Drill in the US now, in ANWR, offshore and on federal lands. The Democrats are against shale, nuclear, clean coal, and want to increase gas prices through higher taxes. Their energy policies are awful.

"in one city alone there is more than 600 houses in foreclosure because the government doesn't support the people." That's an idiotic statement. The Govt spends over TWO TRILLION DOLLARS "supporting" people, on welfare, social security, housing subsidies, etc. those foreclosures happened because people bought houses they couldnt afford and took credit they shouldnt have to pay for it. Obama wants to spend $800 billion more on Govt programs. Who will pay? taxpayers and the next generation stuck with the debt from overspending... Its an endless money pit.

"Many lobbist in Washington are part of the problem. The lobbist in the the Republican party are in the interest of the elite, people who owns oil companies, pharmaceutical comp." Another idiotic statement. Do you really buy the lies of the Democrats that only Republicans get lobbyist money? Trial lawyers are big Democrat givers, and their payback was a $1.6 billion tax giveaway in the Democrat energy bill.

Democrats are to blame because they keep over-regulating healthcare and demanding more mandates. McCain's go the right idea, allow people to buy insurance from a company in any state. Barack Obama Wrong on Iraq

John McCain was right and Obama wrong on Iraq:

John McCain has won the Iraq argument. The disagreement on Iraq between McCain and Barack Obama, indeed between Democrats and Republicans, was not about the future of American "neocolonialism" or about the candidates' sympathy for the Marines and soldiers eager to return home. It was about the strategic benefit of keeping active U.S. troops in the War. John McCain believed that a continued American troop presence would hasten Iraq's progress toward national security and political reconciliation. Barack Obama thought a speedy withdrawal would best achieve that goal.

In short, Early in the campaign, Obama was against the surge, McCain was for it - McCain was right. It is time to reward the Republicans for being more right (or less wrong) on Iraq.
Bush made mistakes, but corrected them. The Democrats denounced the costs of the war, but had no credible plan to win and criticized the strategy that won the war. Who should win politically from that? Maybe the guy (John McCain) who was right all along.


Facts Matter on Iraq, and the fact is that we are winning decisively in Iraq in ways the media will not mention.

O’Hanlon explained that the last three months has been the “spring of the blossoming of Iraqi security forces” and Iraq is on an “impressive trajectory” although we have not yet “reached a stable end point.” He stressed that the 80% reduction in civilian violence was much better than he thought possible. He went through a detailed review of Basra, conceding that Maliki’s actions took the Americans by surprise and that in the first week things went poorly. However, by the second week two brigades were deployed from Al Anbar ( a testimony to massive improvements in Iraq security force logistics) and that the mission was successful, allowing the Iraqi army and national police force to now control the streets of Basra.

I asked O’Hanlon whether his previous criticism that Barack Obama was in denial about facts on the ground still stood. In a lengthy answer he and then Pollack avoided a partisan hit on Obama and I think revealed their true purpose: to inform the public and policy matters about the real situation in Iraq and allow Democrats to in essence climb back off the surge opposition policy limb they have crawled out on. (This is my description; they were quite tactful and even optimistic that this is a time when political leaders can reorient themselves to new facts.) Both indicated that it would be a mistake with critical provincial and national elections upcoming in 2008 and 2009 to begin an abrupt withdrawal in 2009. O’Hanlon offered that Democrats could take credit for having pressured Iraqis on a political front with the clear message that out presence would not be indefinite and that they should accept that “the good news is you may be able to leave earlier than proposed based on progress and not on defeat.” Continuing with the answer, Pollack said that “our support is absolutely critical” in the short term and that “a massive withdrawal of U.S. forces in 2009 is not a good idea.”

O’Hanlon continued by praising McCain’s May 2008 speech that envisioned half the forces out by the end of his first term.

One comment said: Gee, how gratifying to see the Truth, known by almost every Man and Woman who has served in Iraq, finally come to light. That the US military has been pursuing a successful strategy to train and set up effective indigenous security forces to make Iraq safe for Iraqis, allow reconstruction, allow reconciliation, and foster peace in the MidEast. A story the MSM has obfuscated, hidden, twisted, and just plain lied about for 5 yrs.

Ms. Rubin has pointedly made this article also advisory to the Dhimmicratic party, to allow them to “save face” just like the Iraqi culture needed a way to save face in policing their own country, taking charge of their own lives, instead of constantly blaming America for their own problems. Dhimmicrats in America are too far gone down the path of advocating Defeat for America to be forgotten or forgiven by the vast majority of Americans who remember what party played with the lives of American troops through its support and adoption of the enemy’s rhetoric, and their willingness to use our troops’ funding to win political advantage.

Barack Obama's counter-offer to do two joint forums on top of the three sanctioned debates is far short of what the McCain camp wants. Team McCain recognizes that their preferred 10 won't come to fruition but think Obama's counter is something of an insult.

Obama adviser Eric H. Holder Jr., who is scrutinizing candidates to be the Democratic presumptive presidential nominee's running mate. As deputy attorney general under President Clinton, Mr. Holder reviewed the last-minute pardon of fugitive financier Marc Rich.

Charged with 51 counts of fraud, tax evasion and illegally trading with Iran, Mr. Rich fled to Switzerland in 1983 but won a pardon from Mr. Clinton in 2001. The decision prompted a congressional investigation because Mr. Rich's wife was a major Democratic donor and prosecutors said they were never consulted.

Indicted by then-U.S. Attorney Rudolph W. Giuliani, Mr. Rich failed to return to the U.S. following the indictment and was on the FBI's Most Wanted list for several years. Mr. Holder had given a "neutral, leaning towards favorable" opinion of the pardon that led directly to the pardoning of Mr. Rich on Mr. Clinton's last day in office.

"I think it is a matter of record that Mr. Holder recommended the pardoning of Mr. Rich," Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, told reporters Thursday.

Obama campaign is in defensive mode, trying to castigate all the stories about Obama's past, associates etc. as 'smears'. One of them is the rumor of Michelle saying "whitey" in a speech/rant in 2004 at a conference set up by Jesse Jackson's Rainbow/PUSH crowd. Nothing has substantiated that rumor.

But we don't need that rumor to be offended and repelled:

In a February 2007 appearance with her husband on 60 Minutes, Mrs. Obama implied that America's allegedly rampant white racism posed a great physical threat to her husband, who had just announced his candidacy for the 2008 presidential race.
Michelle, addressing a congregation at South Carolina's Pee Dee Union Baptist Church, begins with a broad assessment of life in America in 2008, and life is not good: we’re a divided country, we’re a country that is "just downright mean," we are "guided by fear," we’re a nation of cynics, sloths, and complacents. "We have become a nation of struggling folks who are barely making it every day," she said, as heads bobbed in the pews. "Folks are just jammed up, and it’s gotten worse over my lifetime. And, doggone it, I’m young. Forty-four!"

"That before we can work on the problems, we have to fix our souls -- our souls are broken in this nation."

Michelle Obama proclaimed on February 18th, that for "the first time in her adult life," she was proud of America, as she spoke during a rally to support her husband’s presidential bid.

During a rally in downtown Milwaukee, Michelle said, "Hope is making a comeback and, let me tell you, for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country. Not just because Barack is doing well, but I think people are hungry for change,"

February 29th, Michelle visited Zanesville, Ohio, where she met with a group of women at a local day care center. She said, "We left corporate America, which is a lot of what we’re asking young people to do," she tells the women. "Don’t go into corporate America. You know, become teachers. Work for the community. Be social workers. Be a nurse. Those are the careers that we need, and we’re encouraging our young people to do that. But if you make that choice, as we did, to move out of the money-making industry into the helping industry, then your salaries respond."

In the same speech, Mrs. Obama demonstrated how out-of-touch she is, by bemoaning the amount of money she has to spend, $10,000, on "piano and dance and sports supplements" and "summer programs and so on and so forth," for her two children. What she didnt tell people: the Chicago Tribune reported that Mrs. Obama’s compensation at the University of Chicago Hospital, where she is a vice president for community affairs, jumped from $121,910 in 2004, just before her husband was elected to the Senate, to $316,962 in 2005, just after he took office. Nice cushy salary for an 'community affairs' job. And she has the gall to speak about us being 'broken'?!? About how hard it is in America?!? to lecture others to be less materialistic?!?

Obama's wife has not been slandered. Obama's wife has been slandering America.

1) He has gone out of his way to support in Kenya Raila Odinga, head of the Luo tribe, who promised to introduce sharia law if elected. Obama interrupted his New Hampshire campaign to speak by phone with Odinga. As the Investor’s Business Daily has reported, his half-brother Abongo ‘Roy’ Obama is a Luo activist in Kenya and a militant Muslim who argues that the black man must ‘liberate himself from the poisoning influences of European culture’ and urges Barack to embrace his African Muslim heritage.
2) His mentor, the black power-supporting Christian pastor Jeremiah Wright, is a close associate of Louis Farrakhan, the demagogue leader of the black power, Jew-hating militant organisation Nation of Islam. A number of Obama’s own staffers have been members of the Nation of Islam.

3) Tony Rezko, who was recently convicted of fraud, money laundering and bribery conspiracy, has been a major supporter of Obama and contributor to his cause – the full extent of which Obama tried to conceal. ... But what has received far less attention is Rezko’s connections with the Nation of Islam. Reszko, born in Syria, was a business associate of Jabir Herbert Muhammad, the son of the founder of the Nation of Islam, Elijah Muhammad, serving as a vice president and general manager of JHM’s firm Crucial Inc. And finally, Rezko was bailed from jail by Ali Baghdadi, the ‘Middle East adviser’ to the Nation of Islam.

Obama has NO executive experience. Never had to manage anything bigger than a Senate staff. He has NO legislative accomplishments worthy of note (co-sponsoring someone elses bill is pathetic response!) Obama skipped out on 130 votes as state senator. He was barely in office one year as US Senator, with zero accomplishments save for one good speech, and he started running for President. Even OBAMA admitted he lacked the experience to be President.

He is weak, feeble, and is a very leftwing Senator who has thrown multiple extremist radical friends under the bus in this campaign to save his political skin.

He is the worst nominee from either party in our lifetimes and will be a disaster as President. The worst President in the last 40 years was Jimmy Carter. Obama will be worse.

Rev Wright is an extremist radical leftist. Rev Wright is a lot like Rev Farrakhan, and he preaches an Afrocentric 'black liberation theology' view that is marxist and black separatist. The "anti-American" charge comes from him saying bat-s**t crazy stuff like "God D8mn America!" Wright and Farrakhan. hates the power of whites and the power of Jews, and preach an alienation from what America represents. He preaches to support the "homeland" - is it USA? No, its *Africa*. I don't think you can get more anti-American than that.

It is this world, a world where cruise ships throw away more food in a day than most residents of Port-a-Prince see in a year, where white folks' greed runs a world in need, apartheid in one hemisphere, apathy in another hemisphere ... That's the world! On which hope sits." And so it went, a meditation on a fallen world. While the boys next to me doodled on their church bulletin, Reverend Wright spoke of Sharpesville and Hiroshima, .... "

Well, it was a very SIMILAR speech that Wright gave after 9/11, which ALSO mentioned Shapresville and Hiroshima and which ALSO lambasted evil Amerikkka's death-dealing, and then said "The chickens have come home to roost!" Wright's view of America is very dark.

"Does disagreeing with choices made by your government make you unpatriotic??" Do leading beside-the-point questions win the argument? Wright falsely claimed that AIDS was a government plot to keep the black man down. That's nuts!

The real issue is that Wright is a crazy extremist who doesnt merely disagree with one or two things, but is against the "System" that is America. He says its an "Arrogant, white-run racist superpower" and blames USA for 9/11, we 'deserved' it. Black Liberation Theology is the politics of the black panther party in the pulpit and Wright preaches it. His "christianity" is not recognizable to real Christians - yet Barack Obama was very attracted to it, precisely because Obama wanted a black 'identity' and found it in these extremist views.

It is clear from his autobiography that Barack Obama is attracted to and shares Wrights radicalism and Wrights message that "White man's greed" ruins the world, and that is why Obama praised Wright in the past, used Wright's line as the title to his book, got federal grant money for his church, and got his endorsement. Obama defended Wright and initially said he thought Wrights views were not controverisal.


Barack Obama joined the Afrocentric black liberation theology Trinity church less out of a calling to Jesus and more a calling to leftwing activism. When Obama first undertook his agitating work in Chicago's South Side poor neighborhoods, he was un-churched. Yet his office was in a Church and most of the folks he needed to agitate and organize were Church people -- pastors and congregants -- who took their churches and their church-going very seriously. Again and again, he was asked by pastors and church ladies, "Where do you go to Church, young man?" There were personal and political motivations for Obama to belong to a congregation, as well. So, Obama finally joined a church, in part to deepen what one friend called "a whole web of relationships" in the community that gave him a strong political base and a well-connected mentor. This church, Trinity, just happens to be run by a man, Rev Wright, who is not just controversial in his way, but who is close friends with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. In fact, the style of Wright and Farrakhan is similar. Obama has several Nation of Islam adherents on his staff, and Obama attended and helped organize Farrakhan's million-man march.

Ultimately, the real issue is that Obama's dishonest campaign is now running from the real 20-years-at-Trinity Obama and concocting a fake one who claims not to know about Wrights radical views. This phony campaign charade can be believed only by the very naive. Obama is either an extremist like Wright or a political opportunist of the worst sort - or both.

OBAMA TOO LIBERAL says Democrats

Democratic Rep. Dan Boren of Oklahoma said Tuesday that Sen. Barack Obama is "the most liberal senator" in Congress and he has no intention of endorsing him for the White House. He said that while Obama has talked about working with Republicans, "unfortunately, his record does not reflect working in a bipartisan fashion."

TENNESSE DEMOCRAT SAYS HE HAS "BAD CONNECTIONS"
Tennessee Democratic Party Executive Committee member Fred Hobbs tells The City newspaper in Nashville, "I don't exactly approve of a lot of the things he stands for — and I'm not sure we know enough about him. He's got some bad connections, and he may be terrorist connected for all I can tell. It sounds kind of like he may be."

Code Pink Supports Obama

Code Pink is a vile Leftwing agitation group.

Code Pink's support for Fallujah jihadists and other Iraqi insurgents was support given to the group that murdered western aid workers, beheaded civilians and terrorized whole cities.

These terrorists also killed election workers and other Iraqi civilians ... The terrorists wanted to kill Iraqi democracy. Reuters photographer in Dec 2004 recorded a grisly execution: "A gunman, left, shoots and kills a man lying in Baghdad's Haifa Street after being pulled from a car Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004. The man at right on his knees was executed moments later, along with another man not shown in picture. About 30 militants hurling hand grenades and firing machine guns attacked a car carrying five people employed by the commission's Baghdad office and tried 'to drag them out,' said Adel al-Lami, a member of the Independent Electoral Commission of Iraq." Three were killed, and two escaped.

The insurgents did this in late 2004 to terrorize Iraqis out of the elections. Despite murders and attack by insurgents, the insurgents failed to stop the elections in January 2005 and later. Code Pink supported these terrorists when they went to voice support for the insurgency. As reported in 2005:

The group's co-founder, Jody (sic) Evans, was an international observer at the World Tribunal on Iraq in June 2005. The Tribunal culminated in a statement signed by ativists (sic) from 10 countries that characterized the insurgency as "legitimate and justified" and called for war crimes charges against Bush and other world leaders who backed the U.S. invasion. Ms. Evans, who markets herself to the media as a peace activist, issued the following statement regarding her support for the terrorist-led insurgency in Iraq while at the tribunal: "We must begin by really standing with the Iraqi people and defending their right to resist. I can remain myself against all forms of violence, and yet I cannot judge what someone has to do when pushed to the wall to protect all they love. The Iraqi people are fighting for their country, to protect their families and to preserve all they love. They are fighting for their lives, and we are fighting for lies." (AlterNet, June 26, 2005)

Obama against good elections

Safe union elections in jeopardy if Obama wins:

How would you like elections without secret ballots? To most people, the notion of getting rid of secret ballots is absurd. This is modern-day America. Such an idea could not be seriously considered, right?

People support secret balloting for very obvious reasons. Politics frequently generates hot tempers. People can put up yard signs or wear political buttons if they want. But not everyone feels comfortable making his or her political positions public. Many would rather vote without fearing that their choice will offend or anger someone else.

Secret balloting has solved another potential problem: vote buying, which they essentially ended in U.S. elections. After all, why pay people if you couldn't be sure how they voted?

But if Barack Obama becomes president, secret ballots seem destined to end for at least one type of election: union certifications.

Currently, when 50 percent of workers in a company sign statements to unionize, that merely sets up a second stage, where workers vote by secret ballot to determine if the company would be unionized. Under the new proposal, using a system called “Card Check,” unionization would occur as soon as half the workers had signed cards stating that they favor union representation.

In other words, up until now, a worker could placate union supporters and sign a statement saying that he wanted a union and then vote against the union when he was protected by the secrecy of the voting booth. (Continued)

Suddenly Obama is feeling the pain of his demagogic bashing of captains of industry. Boomerang, and the ex-Fannie Mae chief, a DC insider, is tossed under the bus to protect Barack's political viability. Ouch, it's gotta hurt throwing your favorite Johnson under the bus, to join Obama's grandmother, Rev Wright, Pfleger, and a host of other sundry nefarious characters. D’OH-bama’s Mortgage Mess" claims a victim:

And if you’re going to attack political opponents for playing “textbook Washington games,” it would probably be best not to play them yourself. If you do, you’ll end up tongue-tied in front of the cameras, hung by your own holier-than-thou rhetoric and faced once again with the decision to throw another bad choice under the bus.

"These are the people who are responsible for infecting the economy and helping to create a home foreclosure crisis." ... "These executives crossed the line to boost their bottom line." That's what Obama called the Mortgage CEOs. Then he hired one who ran Fannie Mae and got a sweetheart deal from one of the most notorious of them, Countrywide, to vet his VP picks:

Johnson, who has advised past failed Democratic nominees Walter Mondale and John Kerry, was CEO of the beleaguered, government-backed mortgage giant, Fannie Mae. Over the weekend, the Wall Street Journal reported that Johnson accepted more than $7 million in below-market-rate loans from scandal-plagued subprime lender Countrywide Financial Corp. The company’s CEO, Angelo Mozilo, had set up a very special loan program for his high-powered pals. Johnson had named Mozilo to Fannie Mae’s national advisory committee more than a decade ago and they maintained a cozy friendship.

Jim Johnson is a corrupt insider. Barack Obama is an insider charlatan puppet for the leftwing special interests out there pretending to be Mr Outsider. He's not; he's bought and paid for by Soros. Meanwhile, the MSM pays no attention to the Soros-Johnson connection (Perseus, look it up.) Obama weakly has to undo bad decisions to save his own skin.

The real truths are:
- Obama's life history is steeped in the Left. His socialist Dad, progressive-left Mom, Communist mentor, radical supporters and friends (Ayers, New Party, Democratic Socialists), and his Farrakhan-like radical Afrocentrist church (Wright, Trinity), etc.
- His voting record is highly partisan and leftwing, the most liberal Senator as rated by National Journal. he is extremist on abortion, even opposing a 'Born Alive Infant Protection Act' in Ill. Senate, and being 100% NARAL, etc.
- Obama is clueless about the economy in ways that any free-market lover would shudder. (consider his view that raising capital gains tax rates is still okay eve n if it doesnt raise money. Does Bruce Bartlett agree to that or support that? I would think "The seven Fat years" author, who praised the Reagan tax cuts and supports the Bush tax cuts, would lament Obama's views
- Obama, Like Clinton in 1992, is throwing enough moderate/conservative 'vibes' thrown out, that have nothing to do with his agenda. Even when they are not true, and he slips - for example, Obama lied when he claimed he was never in church when Wright fulminated against white 'oppression'. The lie is disproven by Obama's own words in his autobiographies, where he details exactly what Wright was about and what he said and how it inspired him.
- Obama's elitist slip-of-tongue in San Fran (the remark about "clinging to God") exposed his Christian commitments as more shallow than his commitment to leftist intellectual sociological analysis. He's got more Marx than Jesus in his value system.
- His history of helping radicals, like his earmarks for Trinity and for “America is the greatest sin against God;” Pfleger (The New York Times reported in early May that the Catholic Church run by Rev. Pfleger received a $100,000 earmark from Sen. Obama)
- Obama has helped radicals in the Palestinian cause too. PLO front man Rashid Khalidi, a Yasser Arafat toady, got $75,000 through Obama and Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers from the Woods Foundation, and later Khalidi returned the favor by hosting a fundraiser for Obama.

Obama's campaign is more phony than most campaigns, which are all some level of hype. Alexrod's lifted/plagiarized rerun of Deval Patrick's 2006 campaign is a template, write whatever 'change' you wish. The vacuum might make some naive fools write in their own wish-fulfillment; but this is just Perot redux and Carter/76 retread. Been there, done that; maybe thats why Obama wins the under 30 crowd and McCain the over 30 crowd. If you've been there before you know its a phony charade.

There is absolutely nothing in Obama's history to suggest he even is familiar with conservative ideas let alone would reach across and agree with any of them. having an inspiring life story may validate conservatives truths but that doesnt make Obama one. (and actually, I dont see how going from elite private school to ivy league to political success is such a stretch, whatever the color).

Obama's record and history is even to the left of most Democrats. Maybe that's why Rep Boren is wary of Obama.
Conservatives might lament a moderate like McCain as the GOP pick, but anyone who believes in small Government, American national sovereignty, or traditional values will find absolutely NOTHING in Obama. Nothing worth supporting at all. He's a progressive left candidate through and through and any attempt to sell him as something else is just blatant dishonesty.

Obama manages the difficult feat of being distinctly worse than McCain; distinctly more 'open borders and give illegal aliens everything they DREAM for' including welfare for legal immigrants, drivers licenses for illegal aliens, against a real border fence, *and* citizenship within 10 years for illegal aliens. he wants more legal ‘chain migration’ to keep the pipeline of future Democrat voters and Govt welfare recipients stuffed. A PATRIOT’S GUIDE TO THE 2008 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

Some conservatives are withholding support for McCain. Here is my response to those that are on the fence:
1. McCain is a moderate-to-conservative, Obama was rated *most liberal* Senator in the Senate last year. McCain is better on taxes, Judges, Iraq, Iran, GWOT, right-to-life, gun rights, earmarks/spending, and gay marriage (Obama will use his bully pulpit to encourage it)
2. McCain is a capable and experienced man who served the country his whole life, even spending 5 years in a POW camp. Obama has spent a lifetime raised and associated with radicals, marxists, and leftwing activists; he has served ‘the cause’ of leftwing politics only and nothing else. He has no accomplishments worthy of note except getting elected.
3. Ideology aside, and putting just the basic protection of the country on the line, there is no comparison - McCain is better.
4. We vote based on who is best for the country as top priority. Republican conservatives can clean up the mess of RINO poop in the RNC later as a secondary priority, but the top priority of a patriot is what is best for America. Country before party!
5. Based on #1, #2 and #3, McCain is far far better for this country than Obama. Neither man is ‘evil’, but far more bad things will happen to USA if Obama is elected.
6. You never win by losing. The most leftwing President in American history - Obama - will be a huge blow to the conservative cause. Anyone who thinks otherwise is on drugs.

Last month, he told an Egyptian weekly that Yee???s ???case was dropped because there was no case to begin with.???

1. Yee was caught returning to the U.S. with maps of Gitmo prison facilities, among other classified materials, and was arrested at a U.S. airport.

2. He was charged with espionage, mishandling classified documents and lying to investigators.

3. He served hard time in a South Carolina stockade.

4. Two of his Muslim cronies at Gitmo were convicted of stealing or mishandling classified documents.

5. Far from being exonerated, the military dropped charges against him to protect national security.

Guantanamo commander Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Miller, who originally accused Yee of spying, explained that there were ???national security concerns that would arise from the release of the evidence??? if the case moved to trial.

There???s no question that Yee, a captain who converted to Islam, was sympathetic to al-Qaida and Taliban captives at Gitmo.

At times, in fact, he acted more like a defense attorney for the terrorists. He complained that guards subjected them to cruel ???abuse??? and ???psychological torture.???

Jill Stanek, an Illinois nurse, testified in the US Congress in 2000 and 2001 - and before Obama's Illinois Senate Judiciary Committee - about how induced labor abortions were handled at her hospital, relating this story: "One night, a nursing co-worker was taking an aborted Down syndrome baby who was born alive to our Soiled Utility Room because his parents did not want to hold him, and she did not have the time to hold him. I couldn't bear the thought of this suffering child lying alone in a Soiled Utility Room, so I cradled and rocked him for the 45 minutes that he lived." Powerful stuff. Obama, however, was reportedly "unfazed" by her testimony.

Various state and federal attempts ensued to curb the gruesome practice, including the federal Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, passed unanimously by both the House and Senate in 2002 (It did not immediately become law.)

In essence, these acts state that, whether wanted or not, once a baby is fully born, it is recognized as fully human and is entitled to equal protection of the law under the 14th Amendment. Even pro-abortion Democrats supported the BAIPA because it contained explicit language that it would not infringe on any abortion rights. Democrat Barbara Boxer, arguably the Senate's most zealous pro-choice advocate, agreed that, with this language, the "amendment certainly does not attack Roe v. Wade."

But not Obama. In March of 2001, Obama's Illinois Judiciary Committee considered a law substantially identical to the BAIPA. It passed the Committee, with Obama voting against. In front of the full Illinois Senate, Obama was the only senator to speak against the bill, arguing that life protection extended to any (!) preterm babies (ponder that) could jeopardize abortion rights. He voted "present," tantamount to a "no" vote. In March of 2002, Obama's Committee passed the Induced Birth Liability Act, requiring medical care for babies who survive induced labor abortions - Obama again voting "present," arguing that the Act would "create one more burden on women, and I can't support that."

In 2003, the Democrats took control of the Illinois Senate, and Obama became Chairman of the Health and Human Services Committee. A Committee member sponsored an Amendment that would adopt the exact same language in Illinois's proposed BAIPA that Senator Boxer was satisfied did not curtail any abortion rights in the federal BAIPA. But as Chairman, Obama unilaterally killed the bill by never allowing a Committee vote, thereby preventing it from being voted on by the full Senate and becoming law.

Obama's position essentially boils down to this: a woman who contracts for an abortion is entitled, one way or another, to a dead baby. A dead baby must result, even if that baby had already been a distinct living being. The killing of some live babies is just part of the price we must pay in order to keep the sacred right to an abortion supreme and absolute, beyond any shadow of a doubt.

Obama is beyond pro-abortion, he is an anti-baby extremist.

Black Liberation Theology is Marxism

Liberation Theology is the application of Marxist dielectics to religious faith. It is a theology that insists that Marxism is reality and that God therefore must be a Marxist. It is a hijacking of religion, just as Al Qaeda hijacks Islam for a radical political end.

James Cone (as Rev. Wright has said in many interviews) is the “father” of BLACK LIBERATION THEOLOGY. I think Mr. Cones own words speak volumes:

The leading theorist of Black Liberation Theology is James Cone. Overtly racist, Cone’s writings posit a black Jesus who leads African-Americans as the “chosen people.” In Cone’s cosmology, whites are “the devil,” and “all white men are responsible for white oppression.” Cone makes this point without ambiguity: “This country was founded for whites and everything that has happened in it has emerged from the white perspective,” Cone has written. “What we need is the destruction of whiteness, which is the source of human misery in the world.”

If whiteness stands for all that is evil, blackness symbolizes all that is good. “Black theology,” says Cone, “refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community … Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.”

Maybe they will figure out that the electoral maps all showed Hillary beating McCain easily and Obama either tied or losing to McCain, and maybe they will all figure out that all those exit polls of more people in Hillary’s group saying that they would never vote for Obama than Obama’s people who would support her. Or maybe they will figure out that Hillary was sometimes outspent 4 to 1, like in PA, but she kept winning and winning and winning, and especially huge in many of the latest contests.

Obama did indeed limp across the finish line…he never even made the nom number, he only got there because of superdelegate promises…it’s a very weak win for Obama. Hillary was the stronger candidate to go up against McCain, and she would have killed him in debates, etc.

Now, Obama, a man who served ONE year in the U.S. Senate before running for president will go up against a 5-year POW American War hero, a man who held two terms in the House of Representatives and has 20 YEARS as a U.S. Senator.

Obama's Inexperience Problem

Obama's (lack of) experience a problem: "ince the Civil War, 49 men have won a major-party presidential nomination. Only three of these nominees were less qualified, by traditional measures of leadership and experience, than Obama.

In the 1872 election, Horace Greeley, backed by the Liberal Republicans and Democrats, was a dilettante newspaper publisher. In his first presidential run in 1896, William Jennings Bryan's only credentials were two terms in the House of Representatives and the ability to give a great speech. (Sound familiar?) Wendell Willkie, who served as FDR's punching bag in 1940, was nothing but a corporate lawyer and Republican Party apparatchik.

None of those men was able to win the White House. But inexperience is not necessarily an electoral liability. Bill Clinton, a draft-dodging state attorney general and governor, bested a sitting president who had served as vice president, congressman, ambassador, and head of the CIA (not to mention being a hero in World War II). ...

Part of Obama's pitch is that his relative inexperience will allow him to approach the problems of governance with a fresh set of eyes. This may prove to be true. But two other recent presidents sought office using that same argument: Jimmy Carter and George W. Bush. Neither of their administrations was covered in glory.

Without experience, a president is hostage to both his advisers and his inner compass. A naïf in matters of economics and foreign policy, Carter was unable to distinguish the bad advice he received about the energy crisis, managing inflation, and the rising Islamic radicalism in Iran.

Bush campaigned as a post-partisan uniter who could get things done because he hadn't been corrupted by Washington. But he couldn't sniff out the bad advice he received from George Tenet and Donald Rumsfeld.

Yet despite, or perhaps because of, their inexperience, Carter and Bush shared an overwhelming confidence in the rightness of their own judgments. Both were, as the expression goes, "comfortable in their own skin" - meaning that they were happy to make decisions based on gut instinct.

Think of it as the presidential version of Malcolm Gladwell's Blink hypothesis that the instant conclusions we reach are often the best ones. This contributed in no small way to their failed presidencies. In terms of Obama's accomplishments, his sense of self, and his insistence that good judgment is more important than experience, his candidacy bears more than a passing resemblance to the candidacies of Carter and Bush."

Many years ago, a great hitter named Paul Waner was nearing the end of his long career. He entered a ballgame with 2,999 hits -- one hit away from the landmark total of 3,000, which so many hitters want to reach, but which relatively few actually do reach.

Waner hit a ball that the fielder did not handle cleanly but the official scorer called it a hit, making it Waner's 3,000th. Paul Waner then sent word to the official scorer that he did not want that questionable hit to be the one that put him over the top.

The official scorer reversed himself and called it an error. Later Paul Waner got a clean hit for number 3,000.

What reminded me of this is the great fervor that many seem to feel over the prospect of the first black President of the United States .

No doubt it is only a matter of time before there is a black president, just as it was only a matter of time before Paul Waner got his 3,000th hit. The issue is whether we want to reach that landmark so badly that we are willing to overlook how questionably that landmark is reached.

Paul Waner had too much pride to accept a scratch hit. Choosing a President of the United States is a lot more momentous than a baseball record. We the voters need to have far more concern about who we put in that office that holds the destiny of a nation and of generations yet unborn.

There is no reason why someone as arrogant, foolishly clever and ultimately dangerous as Barack Obama should become president -- especially not at a time when the threat of international terrorists with nuclear weapons looms over 300 million Americans.


Many people seem to regard elections as occasions for venting emotions, like cheering for your favorite team or choosing a Homecoming Queen.


The three leading candidates for their party's nomination are being discussed in terms of their demographics -- race, sex and age -- as if that is what the job is about.


One of the painful aspects of studying great catastrophes of the past is discovering how many times people were preoccupied with trivialities when they were teetering on the edge of doom. The demographics of the presidency are far less important than the momentous weight of responsibility that office carries.

Just the power to nominate federal judges to trial courts and appellate courts across the country, including the Supreme Court, can have an enormous impact for decades to come. There is no point feeling outraged by things done by federal judges, if you vote on the basis of emotion for those who appoint them.

Barack Obama has already indicated that he wants judges who make social policy instead of just applying the law. He has already tried to stop young violent criminals from being tried as adults.

Although Senator Obama has presented himself as the candidate of new things -- using the mantra of 'change' endlessly -- the cold fact is that virtually everything he says about domestic policy is straight out of the 1960s and virtually everything he says about foreign policy is straight out of the 1930s.

Protecting criminals, attacking business, increasing government spending, promoting a sense of envy and grievance, raising taxes on people who are productive and subsidizing those who are not -- all this is a re-run of the 1960s.

We paid a terrible price for such 1960s notions in the years that followed, in the form of soaring crime rates, double-digit inflation and double-digit unemployment. During the 1960s, ghettoes across the countries were ravaged by riots from which many have not fully recovered to this day.

The violence and destruction were concentrated not where there was the greatest poverty or injustice but where there were the most liberal politicians, promoting grievances and hamstringing the police.

Internationally, the approach that Senator Obama proposes -- including the media magic of meetings between heads of state -- was tried during the 1930s. That approach, in the name of peace, is what led to the most catastrophic war in human history.

Everything seems new to those too young to remember the old and too ignorant of history to have heard about it.

Obama in a Nutshell (Peanut-shell, that is)

Politics ain't beanbag, as someone once said, and we hope that attacks on Obama's leftist and quasi-Marxist positions and associations will not be deflected as racist criticisms. The heat he will face in this campaign is nothing compared with what he would face on the world stage.

After the last balloon is popped, what we have is a 46-year-old freshman senator who has spent three years in the U.S. Senate, two of them running for president. As we have noted, his policy is basically to raise taxes at home and to surrender to our enemies abroad.

His choice of friends, associates, pastors and churches bespeaks a lack of judgment that gives us pause as to who will fill important positions in the government and his cabinet. We'd prefer that the next secretaries of defense, energy and state, as well as the next Supreme Court justices be appointed by a President McCain.

Some will say the nation has finally accepted the idea of a black American running for president. So far, the only thing certain is that it's OK for a black Democrat to run for president. We wonder, for example, if the press would swoon if it were a Condoleezza Rice running as a Republican.

There's much to criticize about Obama. He promised a post-racial candidacy, but he brought race to the fore with his associations with a church that embraces black liberation theology and one preacher who said the U.S. government invented AIDS to kill black people and another who said Obama's opponent, Hillary Clinton, was the embodiment of white entitlement.

It was out of political expediency, not principle, that he renounced them and the church that gave them standing ovations. His other associations — from influence peddler Tony Rezko to terrorist bombers William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn — cannot be dismissed as people from the neighborhood.

Obama will warn the nation that McCain represents a third Bush term. We'll do our best to point out that even if true, it's a better prospect than the second coming of Jimmy Carter. His naivete on foreign policy and his willingness to make nice with the world's loons have won the endorsement of Hamas leaders.

On the domestic front, Obama proposes to replace the American dream with a mandate of service and servitude to an ever-larger federal behemoth. He will repeal the Bush tax cuts and add new burdens.

He says: "You can take your diploma, walk off this stage and chase only after the big house and the nice suits and all the other things that our money culture says you should. But I hope you don't."

Well, we hope you do — and so does John McCain. America needs more people like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, people who needn't apologize for making money while making our lives better and our country stronger.

We wonder how many will vote for Obama just to have the opportunity to make more history. The nation cannot afford eight or even four years of him. His policies would lead us to an economic and strategic disaster of historical proportions.

We've made enough history for now.

Obama, Leftwing "New Party"-endorsed candidate

Last week at RedState we uncovered the news that Barack Obama was endorsed by something called the New Party. Since then we have investigated what the New Party was.

It is abundantly clear that the New Party was a political party designed to push the Democratic Party to the far left. It's membership was an amalgamation of socialists, unrepentant communists, union activists, urban activists, and environmentalists.

You can read all about the New Party and Obama's rise to power here.

Its platform included such lovely ideas as government takeovers of all banking institutions, much higher taxes, and massive reductions in the military. To win the nomination of the New Party, a candidate would have to agree to sign a statement expressing loyalty to the party.

By the time Barack Obama sought the party's nomination for his first election in 1996, the New Party had well established itself as the major third party alternative for leftists who thought the Democratic Party had drifted too far to the right.

There is absolutely no doubt that Barack Obama knew what the New Party was. Barack Obama actively sought and received the endorsement of this far left group and, with it, was able to win his election. He was willing to express his loyalty to this far left party. The radical left Democratic Socialists of America praised the New Party's endorsement of Obama and itself promoted Obama.

None of us should buy into the notion that the man is somehow different because of his silver tongue. He is a political opportunist, a die-hard leftist, or both. It is clear, based on what the New Party was and Obama's connection to it, that he is the candidate of a repudiated past that we should not want to resurrect.
