Obama's Checkup
My immediate thought: Kind of like Obama's resume and record of experience!
Obama Wrong on Iraq
That Obama Never Disputed That The Surge Would Make A Difference In Iraq:
Axelrod: "[Obama] never disputed the fact that if you throw a surge of American soldiers in an area, that you can make a difference..." (MSNBC's "Morning Joe," 5/30/08)
FACT: When The Surge Was Announced In January 2007, Obama Said That It Would Not Work And Would Actually Increase Sectarian Violence:
Obama Said "I Don't Think The President's Strategy Is Going To Work." Obama: "But right now what we have is, I think by all accounts, a disaster unfolding in Iraq. We all have a responsibility, Democrats and Republicans, Congress and the White House, to make sure that we can come up with the best strategy. I don't think the president's strategy is going to work. We went through two weeks of hearings on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee; experts from across the spectrum -- military and civilian, conservative and liberal -- expressed great skepticism about it." (MSNBC's "Reaction To The State Of The Union Address," 1/23/07)
- Obama Said The Surge Would Actually Worsen Sectarian Violence In Iraq. Obama: "I am not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraq is going to solve the sectarian violence there. In fact, I think it will do the reverse." (MSNBC's "Response To The President's Speech On Iraq," 1/10/07)
MYTH: Obama Said He Would Provide Funding For The Troops In Iraq:
"'I Think That Nobody Wants To Play Chicken With Our Troops On The Ground,' Said Obama." (Mike Glover, "Obama Says Congress Will Fund Iraq War After Expected Bush Veto," The Associated Press, 4/1/07)
- Obama: "[W]hat you don't want to do is to play chicken to -- with the president, and create a situation in which, potentially, you don't have body armor; you don't have reinforced Humvees; you don't have night-vision goggles." (CNN's "The Situation Room," 3/28/07)
In January 2007, Obama Said That Congress Needed To Make Sure That Troops In Iraq Had "All The Resources Necessary To Come Home Safely And To Execute The Missions That Have Been Laid Out For Them." Obama: "I know nobody in Congress, Republican or Democrat, who is going to in any way strand troops who are presently in Iraq. We've got to make sure that they have all the resources necessary to come home safely and to execute the missions that have been laid out for them." (MSNBC's "Reaction To The President's Speech On Iraq," 1/10/07)
FACT: Obama Pandered To MoveOn.Org By Voting Against Critical Funding For The Troops In Iraq And Afghanistan:
Obama Voted Against Providing $94.4 Billion In Critical Funding For The Troops In Iraq And Afghanistan. (H.R. 2206, CQ Vote #181: Passed 80-14: R 42-3; D 37-10; I 1-1, 5/24/07, Obama Voted Nay)
MoveOn.Org Threatened Democrats Who Did Not Vote Against The War Funding Bill. "MoveOn.org, a leading antiwar group, rallied its 3.2 million members in an e-mail alert...that declared that 'every single Democrat must oppose this bill.' The group warned that it would consider backing primary challengers to Democrats who vote yes. Other organizations issued similar angry threats." (Shailagh Murray, "Antiwar Groups Press Democrats To Vote Against Iraq Bill," The Washington Post, 5/24/07)
MYTH: Obama Says He Has The Judgment To Handle The Situation In Iraq:
Obama Has Touted His Judgment On Iraq In The Past. Obama: "I don't talk about my opposition to the war to say 'I told you so.' I wish the war had gone differently. But the reason I talk about it is because I truly believe that the judgment, and the conviction, and the accountability that each of us showed on the most important foreign policy decision of our lives is the best indicator you have of how each of us will make those decisions going forward. How we made that decision, and how we talk about it, is critical to understanding what we would do as President." (Sen. Bara ck Obama, Remarks On Iraq, Des Moines, IA, 10/12/07)
FACT: Obama Has Not Been To Iraq Since 2006:
Obama Was In Iraq For Two Days In 2006. "Obama ... met with U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad and Iraqi President Jalal Talabani on Saturday [January 6, 2006]. He said before his two-day trip to Iraq that he wanted to ask U.S. commanders what a realistic time frame was for bringing troops home." (Jason Straziuso, "Obama Says Minorities Mus t Be More Involved In Iraq's Government," The Associated Press, 1/7/06)
It Has Been 873 Days Since Obama Visited Troops And Commanders In Iraq. (GOP Website, www.gop.com, Accessed 5/29/08)
MYTH: Obama Said That The President Must Be "Mindful Of The Situation On The Ground And What The Commanders Say":
In February 2008, Obama Told CBS' Harry Smith That The President Has To Be "Mindful Of The Situation On The Ground And What The Commanders Say." Smith: "If you are to be elected president and yo
ur commanders on the ground there and your Secretary of Defense said, 'Hold back; you can't be pulling these people out; we're going to create a civil war and a bloodbath,' what would you do?" Obama: "My job as commander in chief is to keep the American people safe. But I firmly believe that we have to send a signal to the Iraqis that it is time to withdraw. We will not have a permanent base there. We will not have a permanent occupation there." Smith: "Even if -" Obama: "Within those constraints -" Smi th: "Even if it meant the beginning of civil war?" Obama: "No, no, no. Within those constraints, I think there is going to be some flexibility. And obviously I would consult with commanders. We have to be mindful of the situation on the ground and what the commanders say." (CBS' "The Early Show," 2/4/08)
- Obama: "I will listen to General Petraeus given the experience that he has accumulated over the last several years. It would be stupid of me to ignore what he has to say." (Fox's "Fox News Sunday," 4/27/08)
FACT: Obama Communications Director Robert Gibbs Admitted That Obama Would Ignore Commanders And Facts On The Ground During Potential Iraq Trip; Instead Will Continue With Withdrawal Plans:
Gibbs Said That Obama Was Considering A Trip To Iraq To See How He Could Begin Removing Troops. MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski: "And, Robert, is your candidate - I mean, just this whole Iraq thing is now being revitalized a bit because of the book. But is your candidate going to go to Iraq? Is that in the plans?" Gibbs: "Well, as he said yesterday Mika, it's under discussion about going overseas and going to Iraq sometime between now and the campaign. You know, I don't think we'll be taking that trip with John McCain because as Senator Obama said yesterda y, the work that the men and women in our military are doing over there is just far too important for them to be props in some sort of political stunt or photo-op. You know, what they're doing over there is separated from their families, giving for their country. It's truly, truly amazing, and I think we would want to go over there and talk to them and see what sort of difficulties they're facing and see how it is that we can begin to carefully remove them and carefully bring them back to their families and bring them back to the United States." (MSNBC's "Morning Joe," 5/29/08)

Whoever did this makeover from a leftist nonentity to Presidential nominee deserves an Oscar. David Axelrod, you're a magician!
Obama is ignorant and gaffe-prone
"To me, this is the real story -- that Obama's gaffes actually reveal something more dangerous than a candidate who merely "misspeaks." That his gaffes are the product of someone who is not quite ready for prime time..."
Let us count the gaffes:
Mr. Obama, a former editor of the Harvard Law Review, has largely been given a pass for his gaffes. Many are trivial, such as his suggestion this month that America has 57 states, and his bizarre statement in a Memorial Day speech in New Mexico that America's "fallen heroes" were present and listening to him in the audience.
Some gaffes involve mangling his family history. Last year in Selma, Ala., for example, he said that his birth was inspired by events there which took place four years after he was born. While this gaffe can be chalked up to fatigue or cloudy memory, others are more substantive – such as his denial last April that it was his handwriting on a questionnaire in which, as a state senate candidate, he favored a ban on handguns. His campaign now contends that, even if it was his handwriting, this doesn't prove he read the full questionnaire.
Mr. Obama told a Portland, Ore., crowd this month that Iran doesn't "pose a serious threat to us," saying that "tiny countries" with small defense budgets aren't much to worry about. But Iran has almost one-fourth the population of the U.S. and is well on its way to developing nuclear weapons. The next day Mr. Obama had to reverse himself and declare he had "made it clear for years that the threat from Iran is grave."
Last week in Orlando, Fla., he said he would meet with Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chávez to discuss, among other issues, Chávez's support of the Marxist FARC guerrillas in Colombia. The next day, in Miami, he insisted any country supporting the FARC should suffer "regional isolation." Obama advisers were left explaining how this circle could be squared.
In a debate last July, Mr. Obama pledged to meet, without precondition, the leaders of Iran, North Korea, Syria and Cuba. He called President Bush's refusal to meet with them "ridiculous" and a "disgrace."
Heavily criticized, Mr. Obama dug in rather than backtrack. He's claimed, in defense of his position, that John F. Kennedy's 1961 summit with Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev in Vienna was a crucial meeting that led to the end of the Cold War.
Not quite. Kennedy himself admitted he was unprepared for Khrushchev's bullying. "He beat the hell out of me," Kennedy confided to advisers. The Soviet leader reported to his Politburo that the American president was weak. Two months later, the Berlin Wall was erected and stood for 28 years.
Obama sells out his TUCC soul
The lesson: When push comes to shove ... Obama is a Sellout.
McClellan sells out Bush for money. Obama sells out the church we was at for over 20 years, the church that inspired the title of his book, the church he was married in, to gain political power.
Power corrupts. And Obama can be absolutely corrupted by his quest for power.

Racist Pastors for Obama
Now another inflammatory screed from a pastor who loves Obama, who opined that "There was a whole lot of white people crying" when Obama stole the nomination from Hillary.
The leftwing Obama has to tell his leftwing radical racebaiting friends to STFU until he gets past the election. But they can't seem to, even with the fawning media covering up gaffe after gaffe and statement after statement. The media has become as bad as the Soviet press, supressing the dissenting thoughts and bad coverage of our "fearless leader", the do-nothing zero-accomplishment junior Senator. Just 5 more months and the worst President in our history could be elected.
A Vet Respond to Obama's Attack
Quote of the Day
How else to explain why their gal got clobbered by a pretty boy with a resume you could print on the back of his driver’s license, a Rolodex apparently limited to neo-segregationist racebaiters, campus Marxist terrorists and indicted fraudsters, and a rhetorical surefootedness that makes Dan Quayle look like Socrates. “On this Memorial Day,” said Barack Obama last Monday, “as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes — and I see many of them in the audience here today…”
Obama sees dead people. Well, the Chicago Democrats are known to count on such souls for their electoral victories.

Obama Constituent Speaks Out
Forgive me, but I am one of those shoppers who like to read labels to check on the contents of a given product before making my purchase. Most Obama adherents seem to want to use the express checkout line. To paraphrase a question first asked by the late Mayor Richard J. Daley, I would want the activist and community organizer to respond to this query, “What trees have you planted?” For all of Obama’s inflated claims as to his “twenty years” of community service, Englewood looks just as blighted today as when this latter day disciple of Saul Alinsky began organizing the community. I cannot point to a single accomplishment that Obama can claim credit for as a legislator in Springfield or in Washington other than fattening his own bank account.

Themes and Memes
America is in MUCH BETTER SHAPE than the media and the Democrats want people to believe. I am sure that once Obama is elected and even before he takes office , the media will inform us of all the good news that has been going on for years that they have held back.
2) “There is no way any president can fix a 3 Trillion dollar housing bubble;”
It is getting fixed already. We are not even in recession due to this unwinding. this is not as bad as the internet bubble burst of 2000 and we navigated that from 2001 to 2003.
Bush was hit with a burst bubble, recession *and* 9/11 in his first year. Within a few years we navigated through it all, he passed tax cuts that kicked off 5 years of high growth and we took the fight to the terrorists in Afghanistan.
3) ” the runaway inflation (which is only at its beginning given the current run-up in commodities);”
speaking of bubbles, commodities is the next one. You foolshinly fail to consider that since the commodities have already risen in price, they are mainly priced in already to inflation. Oil for example is way above a sustainable price and will retreat sooner or later to a sub-$100 price.
4) ” the state budget crises that will among simultaneously lower the quality of K-12 education and increase the cost of higher eduction;” - education quality has little to do with funding (which is more than adequate) and more to do with standards and educational excellence. We can simply improve massively by passing school choice programs in all 50 states; this gets parents involved, it can lower education costs by 20-30% (we waste about 40% of education funding on overhead); also, defunding most of Dept of Education could save billions yet improve education quality.
Elect fiscal conservatives if you want states to navigate through dips in income properly. Leftist governors like granholm in Michigan just raise taxes, which drives business out of state, which makes the hole bigger.
5) ” unwind the war in Iraq;”
- We are already winning in Iraq. If McCain is elected, he could wrap it up in under 2 years and give Iraq the full lead role, successfully ending the war and paving the way to peace in Iraq.
6) " provide universal health care in the face of a recession;” - USA already has universal health care of sorts; you go to an emergency room, you get care. The trick is to provide access at lower cost. we can have lower health insurance costs by electing McCain and implementing his plans, he has the best plans on healthcare. allow people to buy health insurance from any state and you cut the cost of health insurance tremendously.
Less regulation leads to lower costs; the real problem is healthcare industry is overregulated. All the Democrats want to do is regulate more and more, which makes it worse and worse.
7) "Fix immigration"
Obama’s positions on immigration are simply horrible: He is for driver’s licenses for illegal aliens, he filibustered the border wall; he watned even more ‘chain migration’ and has absolutely NO SOLUTION to end illegal immigration … oh, I take that back, he supports 100% amnesty, so he basically wants to surrender to the problem. And he supported a tax for UN global programs. See, Obama is really a status quo socialist with no real change or fix to illegal immigration. Rather, Obama wants to give away the store, sock it to the taxpayers and call us racists if we whine about it or call him the leftist that he is.
8) "Obama can unite this coutry"
National Journal ranked Obama the MOST LIBERAL Senator in 2007. Obama is to the LEFT of Dukakis, Gore and Kerry. And has fewer accomplishments and expereince compared with all three.
Obama is the weakest, most leftist, and least accomplished nominee that a party has put forth in many many years. he is the least deserving to win of any nominee in a long time.
9)“Democratic bullshit didn’t cost 4000+ lives and 650 billion dollars, or make the entire West much more dangerous and less free for everyone.”
LOL. 5 or 6 Democrat BS talking points in a single sentence. Surely no Republican can outrun that amount of BS.
Democrat BS like Carter’s foreign policy and Clinton’s ‘wall’ of separation that kept us clueless about AQ’s intentions madethings more dangerous. Deposing two of the worst govts in the worlds - the Taliban and Saddam Hussein’s regime - have been beneficial to long-term peace and stability.
USA has spent $2.7 trillion in past year, or about $12 *trillion* in the past 5 years, so the cost of liberating Iraq from Saddam and making it a democratic nation free from Al Qaeda is not more than 5% of the Federal Govts expenses. We hear nary a peep from the leftists about the waste, boondoggles etc. from that other 95%. This is all about the desperate and failed attempts to (a) lose a war that is on its way to being won and (b) gain power through fear and demonization, which takes us back to the point of that article.
Attacking Bush over his response to 9/11, which was overall a far better response than previous administration reactions to earlier terrorist attacks, is nothing more than meaningless political posturing.
As for Iraq, Bush is blamed for a war where no WMDs were found, and yet prior to the war, Democrats from hillary Clinton to John kerry were insisting along with everyone else that they were there. So much for Bush keeping Clinton’s CIA chief - a ‘slam dunk’ mistake. And Saddam’s intent to develop WMDs was there. It’s a typical 20/20 hindsight call. Yet it is the Democrats who want to lose the war unnecessarily now, evading completing plain facts such as - Al Qaeda has been in Iraq fighting, and that is where the war on terror is being waged, like it or not.
11) “When Bush was given the news of the events of 9/11, he looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights.”
On the contrary, the President was on top of the situation, gave a national address that evening and an historic speech 9 days later, and within days of 9/11 the genesis of the response, to take out the Taliban, took shape. Within 75 days, the taliban was out of power. You may want to get educated instead of sipping Michael Moore’s swill.
12) “and then unleashing the might of the US military on a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 - “
The Taliban in Afghanistan had allowed Al Qaeda training camps. they had everything to do with 9/11, that is why Bush took them out. Saddam was a sponsor of terrorism for 2 decades with friendly contacts with AQ, so the ‘nothing to do with 9/11’ is simplistic talking points, not the whole story.
13) "how much has oil gone up?”
The price of oil is up. The price of DRAMs and cellphones is down. American productivity is up. Unemployment is around 5%. Life is good in USA, so long as you dont have an 80 mile commute in an old cadillac or screwed up by buying zero down in Cali at the height of the housing bubble. More to the point, Pelosi in 2006 promised to lower gas prices. The Democrats who won the Congress failed; they could have voted for more drilling but the Democrats blocked it.

It's the Elitist Ultra-liberalism, Stupid
This particular black man, Obama, is an ultra-liberal elitist with friends and a wife (and possibly himself clandestinely) steeped in the stew of racial identity. And lets not fall for the pro-Obama chant that this is about race. It isnt. Colin Powell could win 60% of the white vote because he was/is a statesmanlike moderate Republican that most Americans could trust with the country.
Its about Obama’s liberal elitist mindset, values and interests. Obama doesnt share the mindset, values and interests of small-town down-scale gun-toting bible-believing America. He has NOTHING in common with them and offers NOTHING to them except same-old corporate-bashing and a socialist agenda. That dog dont hunt to values voters, and it won't work for middle-class voters who are on to the failures of the tax-and-spend liberals.
All the fine speechifying in the world won't change the National Journal rating on Obama - most liberal member of the U.S. Senate.
Obama will get the same voters Dukakis did and didnt get in 1988, if this plays out accordingly. Conversely, if McCain runs a weak campaign that doesnt expose Obama’s elitist liberal core under that shiny Obama campaign exterior, then Obama might yet win.
Question for Catholics

Does Obama really expect their votes after his reluctance to distance himself from Louis "the Pope is the Antichrist" Farrakhan while soliciting and accepting the endorsement of MoveOn.org, which publishes anti-Catholic hate material including a derogatory photomanipulation of the Pope (shown above)?

Key state survey shows McCain over Obama
If that is the election map, then McCain will win.
Obama's Positions
1) Raising capital gains taxes 100% - since 100 million Americans now own stock, this is not a tax hike on the rich. A lot of retired folks who depend on their investments will get hurt by this.
2) Increase the ceiling on Social Security Payroll taxes. This hurts middle income people the most.
3) Talk to the leaders of Hamas, Iran, etc. Unfortunately, this deals with the issue of face. In many Eastern countries, face is important. When you give their leaders face, it's increases their prestige enormously. Certainly we should negotiate with our enemies as well as our allies, but we should do so from a position of strength, and in a way that will not increase their face.
4) Obama's health care plan - it sounds great, but how do we pay for it? Also, there was mention made of allocating services for the elderly. That means longer waiting lines, services having to be pre-approved by the government, etc. In Canada, this kind of thing has meant people suffering in pain while waiting for months to get treatments approved - it's why there is a growing business of people coming over here from Canada for many procedures. One benefit of Obama's health care plan, however - Mexico's health care business will boom, as our people drive down there for treatment rather than waiting.
Also, Obama parrots the Dem party line on thing like school choice - while many African-Americans favor being able to send their kids to the school of their choice, the Dems won't consider it. Meanwhile, McCain actually has a record of reaching across party lines, much to the chagrin of his own party at times, while Obama's record is slim and doesn't include concrete examples of bipartisan legislation.
Obama's lack of Experience
Aside from helping a few Chicago pals like Tony Rezko, Obama has had zero accomplishments.
He has ZERO executive experience, ZERO foreign policy experience, ZERO real business experience, ZERO proven commitment for the country (which at least John McCain proved by spending 5 years as a POW in North Vietnam). His resume outside politics is nothing, his resume inside politics is ... "oh, he gives great speeches". Wonderful. Calling Obama a statesman on that account is like calling Katie Couric a great journalist on account of her reading a nightly news teleprompter.
Obama did nothing of note in DC before he started on the presidential quest. No Profiles in Courage, no great accomplishments.
Great scot, as I write this, I realize that I, a private citizen, has more real experience and capability to be President than Barack H. Obama.
Don't Vote Obama, get the facts first!
WILMINGTON -- Several anti-Barack Obama signs have popped up around the Port City. The signs read "No-Bama" and features a three pictures: the Illinois Senator smoking, Osama Bid Laden, and the imprisoned former State Representative Thomas Wright.
The signs also list several links to anti-Obama web sites such as: dontvoteobama.net; ObamaTruth.com; and ExposeObama.com.
The "Dont vote Obama" front page has a 'Barack Obama Quote of the Week': From 'The Audacity Of Hope, "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."
Barack Obama on Rev. Jeremiah Wright: "I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother."
On ExposeObama.com is a very effective ad on how Barack Obama is weak on crime. Vicious murders commited in Chicago in 2001, yet Barack Obama as a State Senator voted against applying the death penalty to gang-related murders.
Obama visits 57 States
People react.
Obama invented new states? What are they? Here's a guess at the new states in the Obama States of America:
1. District of Columbia
2. Puerto Rico
3. US Virgin Islands
4. gaza strip (Hamas-istan)
5. berkeley (people’s republic)
6. Guam
7. District of columbia again (to make up for not doing it sooner)

Obama Hurts the Investing Class with Class Warfare Policy
Every so often, a politician commits the horrible mistake of saying what he really thinks. This happened at the Democratic debate. Barack Obama has a very punitive proposal to nearly double the capital gains rate. When asked by one of the moderators whether this makes sense, especially given the historical evidence of big “Laffer-Curve” effects, Senator Obama dismissed concerns about falling revenue, arguing that a high rate was justified by “fairness.” In other words, Senator Obama is so fixated on punishing success that he is even willing to reduce the amount of tax revenue flowing to Washington that he and his buddies can redistribute.
Obama's capital gains tax hike hits the stock market in the gut:
First, not just the wealthy own stocks in this country Mr. Obama. I am hardly wealthy, but I own stock outside of my retirement vehicles.
Second, those regular folk who have IRAs and 401ks *will* be affected by this tax hike. Not by paying the taxes, but by suffering the market losses that will occur when this plan is passed. Not to mention the wider effect on the overall economy.
What do you think is going to happen between the time legislation is introduced and it would receive the signature of the President (no matter whom)? The market is going to drop. Individuals, corporations, investment houses, etc are all going to lock in gains that they have on their stock positions at the lower tax rate. This will have the overall effect of causing the market to go down.
The No-bama Campaign Kicks Off
What is the NO-bama campaign? It's an effort to educate America on the real Obama. You cannot truly know a candidate by the empty campaign slogans and rhetoric. After all, actions speak louder than words.
You learn about Obama by knowing Who his friends are. You learn about Obama by finding out what he's accomplished (sorry, no link, there's nothing there).
Hamas endorses Obama
"We like Mr. Obama, and we hope that he will win the elections," Ahmed Yousuf, Hamas' top political adviser in the Gaza Strip, said.
Reaction fo McCain:
McCain has raised questions about a Hamas adviser saying in an interview: "We like Obama and hope that he will win the election." The United States has labeled the Palestinian organization a terrorist group. McCain said yesterday on "The Daily Show with John Stewart" that it shows how some enemies view America. He said "I guarantee you, they're not going to endorse me."I am sure pro-Obama bloggers will show up to assure us this is not a problem... And why not? They might be Palestinians.
LACK of Judgment
To Know Obama Is to "NO" Obama
The slickest, most well-funded (by billionaire leftist Soros on down) campaign ever is coming to town, and the people are out to see the circus entertainment. The Obama campaign is selling false hope wrapped in a package of fine oratory and new media. Obama's speeches are cotton candy. An enjoyable snack but with zero real value or content. While Oz looks grand on stage, the real Obama is left behind the curtain.
... the elitist ultra-liberal, who was raised by leftists, worked with leftists and is a leftist. He was rated the most liberal Senator in the U.S.Senate. Yup, to the left of his buddy Ted Kennedy.
the real Obama is:
NO accomplishments
NO experience
NO record of service to country
EXTREMIST on abortion: He even voted against a bill that would protect infants born alive due to botched abortions; he voted against giving these infants any legal protection.
WRONG on Iraq: It's a tragedy to fight and unnecessary war, it's a travesty to lose a war unnecessarily; Obama's plan to cut-and-run in Iraq would have cost us the war already, a war we have largely won; such feckless policy will expose us surely to future wars as it emboldens our potential enemies.
LIBERAL ACTIVIST on Judges: He has voted against Roberts and Alito for the Supreme Court, and has demanded instead that he only supports Liberal activist Judges.
Hamas-favored Obama Caught in Hypocrital Web
First, let us be clear about the nature of Senator Obama's attack today: He used the words 'losing his bearings' intentionally, a not particularly clever way of raising John McCain's age as an issue. This is typical of the Obama style of campaigning.
We have all become familiar with Senator Obama's new brand of politics. First, you demand civility from your opponent, then you attack him, distort his record and send out surrogates to question his integrity. It is called hypocrisy, and it is the oldest kind of politics there is.
It is important to focus on what Senator Obama is attempting to do here: He is trying desperately to delegitimize the discussion of issues that raise legitimate questions about his judgment and preparedness to be President of the United States.
Through their actions and words, Senator Obama and his supporters have made clear that ANY criticism on ANY issue — from his desire to raise taxes on millions of small investors to his radical plans to sit down face-to-face with Iranian President Ahmadinejad – constitute negative, personal attacks.
Senator Obama is hopeful that the media will continue to form a protective barrier around him, declaring serious limits to the questions, discussion and debate in this race.
Senator Obama has good reason to think this plan will succeed, as serious journalists have written of the need for 'de-tox' to cure 'swooning' over Senator Obama, and others have admitted to losing their objectivity while with him on the campaign trail.
Today, Senator Obama is complaining about comments John McCain made about a senior Hamas advisor stating that Hamas would welcome Senator Obama's election as president. Indeed, on April 13th, senior Hamas political advisor Ahmed Yousef said, 'We don't mind – actually we like Mr. Obama. We hope he will (win) the election and I do believe he is like John Kennedy, great man with great principle, and he has a vision to change America to make it in a position to lead the world community but not with domination and arrogance.'
The McCain campaign has never suggested that Senator Obama supports Hamas' agenda, but it is more than fair to raise this quote about Senator Obama because it speaks to the policy implications of his judgment.
Just today, the president of Iran, whom Senator Obama wants to meet with unconditionally, called the state of Israel a 'stinking corpse.' Iran is the paymaster and state sponsor of Hamas.
In his victory speech this week, Senator Obama stated that 'wisdom' is meeting with our enemies, including Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, North Korea's Kim Jong Il, Venezuela's Hugo Chavez and Cuba's Raul Castro. John McCain couldn't disagree more. Rather than giving tyrants and dictators the prestige of meeting with an American president, John McCain will instead meet with the champions of human freedom around the world and opposition leaders fighting for liberty .
We understand why Senator Obama doesn't want to engage in a debate over leadership and judgment with John McCain, but the American people demand that debate take place.
These are serious times that call for a serious debate on the profound issues facing our future. John McCain is ready for that debate and we hope Senator Obama will one day get serious and join it.
