Obama - Reality vs Campaign

Response to TNR article on Obama. Bruce Bartlett on the Obamacons. The'yve been Obama-conned.


The real truths are:
- Obama's life history is steeped in the Left. His socialist Dad, progressive-left Mom, Communist mentor, radical supporters and friends (Ayers, New Party, Democratic Socialists), and his Farrakhan-like radical Afrocentrist church (Wright, Trinity), etc.
- His voting record is highly partisan and leftwing, the most liberal Senator as rated by National Journal. he is extremist on abortion, even opposing a 'Born Alive Infant Protection Act' in Ill. Senate, and being 100% NARAL, etc.
- Obama is clueless about the economy in ways that any free-market lover would shudder. (consider his view that raising capital gains tax rates is still okay eve n if it doesnt raise money. Does Bruce Bartlett agree to that or support that? I would think "The seven Fat years" author, who praised the Reagan tax cuts and supports the Bush tax cuts, would lament Obama's views
- Obama, Like Clinton in 1992, is throwing enough moderate/conservative 'vibes' thrown out, that have nothing to do with his agenda. Even when they are not true, and he slips - for example, Obama lied when he claimed he was never in church when Wright fulminated against white 'oppression'. The lie is disproven by Obama's own words in his autobiographies, where he details exactly what Wright was about and what he said and how it inspired him.
- Obama's elitist slip-of-tongue in San Fran (the remark about "clinging to God") exposed his Christian commitments as more shallow than his commitment to leftist intellectual sociological analysis. He's got more Marx than Jesus in his value system.
- His history of helping radicals, like his earmarks for Trinity and for “America is the greatest sin against God;” Pfleger (The New York Times reported in early May that the Catholic Church run by Rev. Pfleger received a $100,000 earmark from Sen. Obama)
- Obama has helped radicals in the Palestinian cause too. PLO front man Rashid Khalidi, a Yasser Arafat toady, got $75,000 through Obama and Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers from the Woods Foundation, and later Khalidi returned the favor by hosting a fundraiser for Obama.

Obama's campaign is more phony than most campaigns, which are all some level of hype. Alexrod's lifted/plagiarized rerun of Deval Patrick's 2006 campaign is a template, write whatever 'change' you wish. The vacuum might make some naive fools write in their own wish-fulfillment; but this is just Perot redux and Carter/76 retread. Been there, done that; maybe thats why Obama wins the under 30 crowd and McCain the over 30 crowd. If you've been there before you know its a phony charade.

There is absolutely nothing in Obama's history to suggest he even is familiar with conservative ideas let alone would reach across and agree with any of them. having an inspiring life story may validate conservatives truths but that doesnt make Obama one. (and actually, I dont see how going from elite private school to ivy league to political success is such a stretch, whatever the color).

Obama's record and history is even to the left of most Democrats. Maybe that's why Rep Boren is wary of Obama.
Conservatives might lament a moderate like McCain as the GOP pick, but anyone who believes in small Government, American national sovereignty, or traditional values will find absolutely NOTHING in Obama. Nothing worth supporting at all. He's a progressive left candidate through and through and any attempt to sell him as something else is just blatant dishonesty.

Either these are phony conservatives or they are uninformed conservatives bamboozled by the admittedly brilliant yet dishonest campaign of Alexrod and Co.
